Many years ago, a high school teacher gave us a speech on jobs - he said there were 3 reasons that you should have a job. Either:

  1. You love the job so much you would do it without being paid
  2. You get paid so much you would be crazy not to do it
  3. It gives you a living, and enough free time to do the things you actually like doing

I think about that speech a lot. I think maybe there are one or two other reasons to have a job as well (like you need it to support a family, it's a stepping stone to something you actually want, etc) but in general I agree with this idea.

Maybe "casual" isn't the right word, but I would expect anyone paying $650k in 1991 (what is that, like $2million in today's dollars) to do their due diligence, which doesn't sound like it was done at all. And you aren't doing this yourself, you're paying someone to do it for you (esp with this kind of money on the line).

I tried to start a peanut butter religion with my friends. We came up with names of deities, holy rites, and decided that priests had to wear the mr peanut outfit. Sadly we couldn't get many others to convert to our new religion….

Just read the wiki on it - I agree with you, EVEN if the seller and real estate agent were lying about informing Stambovsky about the haunting, the very public profile of the haunting should have allowed Stambovsky to know this detail.

I don't agree with the appellate court decision that,

the most meticulous inspection and the search would not ...unearth the property's ghoulish reputation in the community;

Seems to me a pretty casual search would have revealed the reputation.

Talking with no research or anything, but wouldn't those high prices be mostly because of current RAM prices, instead of any inherent problem with Pi ?

China is like this, any building with more than 6 floors is required by law to have an elevator.

Yoda can rattle off "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering" in Episode 1

The first time I heard that line from Yoda about sensing much fear in Anakin, I was pissed. Here's this 9 year old slave boy, a child taken from his mother, his home, his everything and surrounded and poked and prodded by all these weirdos...of course he's afraid you fucking idiot. How dare you spew that crap. To paraphrase another Jedi, "Yes the Jedi deserved it, and I hope they burn in hell!"
