Ibwish more linux people had this mentality of "if its not broke don't fix it". After years of floating around different distros, I just want something that works, is stable, and the OOTB is easy and works. So I've just gone back to mint debian edition. Idc, I don't have time to be tinkering with my computer

Tell me how deep the rabbit hole can go.

Yeah, we devs and computer people aren't good at names. Half the time the name is the acronym of what it is/does RAM, CPU, GPU... Othertimes its something the Dev thought would be cool.

I love that pretty much everyone says the creator of the gif format is saying his format name wrong.

Yup, follow the 3-2-1 rule or you don't have backups

Yeah downscaling your power level for a cut scene is stupid too. Lotta times in games I'm just like "this is 6 mercs, I could have taken them easy"

I mean, I live somewhere with proper winter, just because it's snowing doesn't mean it's cold yet.

I've personally been in -37C before, so yeah maybe 0C isn't so cold to me anymore.

12 fl oz, 1 pound, 1 inch for us Americans or those curious about the imperial system.

Also, are you buying a pound of chocolate?

I mean, in a vacuum, a smart washer is a nice idea which is actually useful. Set the time to start the washer to 430 so it finishes when you get home. That's a good and useful improvement.

In practice however, gestures wildly there's the obvious data collection both of your laundry habits and anything the app on your phone can reach.

I'm not opposed to smart tech, but it has to actually benefit to product. A smart TV is a better TV (again, the data collection BS, but I am ignoring that for the moment). It can launch Netflix or Hulu or whatever, and you can watch from the comfort of your couch without another device. It is doing TV better than a non smart TV.

Also, I would love it if there was a good FOSS TvOS.

+1 on the fun. I played a bit last night and had a few good runs. Some builds could quickly become op. The combo system is useful and sometimes forces you to think how you'll play your hand.

Good stuff, gonna play more tonight.

I'd say be hopeful, but I don't know.

I am a software developer, and there's absolutely been times where a temp fix becomes permanent, but I've also had times where my boss has told me to clean up tech debt or I've been "look this whole chunk of code is both wrong and unmaintainable" (wrong as in it didn't do the thing correctly but it looked correctish) and I've been allowed to just rewrite the broken code from scratch.

Idk, I feel like also at a certain point the codes bugs might be so obvious and troublesome that companies are forced to actually deal with the problem code and when that happens will be different for every company and every program.

Ehhhhh...

Given how dominant English has been on the world stage for decades, there's been a few times in my life where I'm listening to someone speak English and I didn't realize that they weren't American/AngloCanadian. (Dear Canadians, I am sorry, but like, dude our accents right on each others borders are near indistinguishable)
