I've been part of the community since it was just LGB. Those are sexual orientations. I'm absolutely all for representation of marginalized communities, but I'm not clear on the relationship between all of these groups. I fucking love the trans community but that isn't a sexual orientation, and MMIWG is a completely separate issue. One that needs more attention, in my opinion, but they are wholly unrelated.

Can't we go with LGB+QA or something that I will be able to remember? I want to be supportive but it's getting out of hand.

I cancelled when my mom couldn't use my account anymore. We live 5 blocks apart and she's on a fixed income. I had an account from the early 2000s, when they were mailing DVDs to you, and they lost me when they got greedy. Now I just sail the seven seas. Everyone should cancel, especially since they're raising prices again.

Glad you got it! I remembered no one ever responded so I figured I should lol I'm sorry it phones home so much though - that's bananas. What is it doing??

Hi, I know you left this comment months ago, but I wanted you to know that I've replaced my K1 (the topic of the thread) with a Carbon, and I cannot possibly exaggerate just how amazing this printer is. Highly recommended. 10 out of 10, no notes.

Back in the day, road paint was super reflective. No idea why they stopped using it.

Not everyone is able-bodied, friend. Imagine being a wheelchair user when your neighbours can't be bothered to shovel and the city hasn't plowed.

[–] discomatic@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 week ago

Well of course they won't.

I'm so glad he got to see his son win before he passed.

Yes, all 6 of those examples represent every needy person.

Good math.

I drive a little hatchback. Aiming just means headlights on trucks point directly into my mirror. People insist on leaving zero space.

Well I could listen to this guy talk all day.

Is there a program somewhere between TinkerCAD and Fusion?

Am I forgetting anything?

I’m writing as a Niagara resident who is increasingly frustrated with the number of major decisions your government continues to push without meaningful public support or proper study.

I strongly oppose the pattern of decisions your government has made, including:

  • The push toward forced municipal amalgamation in Niagara and other regions, despite local opposition and no clear evidence it would reduce costs or improve services
  • The Greenbelt land swap scandal, where protected land was removed from the Greenbelt to allow development that benefited a small group of developers
  • Policies and development pressures that weaken protections for the Niagara Escarpment, a critical natural area that communities in this region depend on
  • Expanding private healthcare delivery while public hospitals struggle with staffing shortages, funding pressures, and long wait times
  • The use of Minister’s Zoning Orders (MZOs) to fast-track development projects while bypassing normal municipal planning and environmental review
  • The proposal to build Highway 413 through farmland and environmentally sensitive areas despite strong opposition from municipalities and environmental groups
  • Extensive taxpayer-funded government advertising campaigns, including ads during major sporting events, that many Ontarians feel blur the line between public information and political promotion
  • The decision to redevelop Ontario Place with a controversial private luxury spa complex and major public land transfer to private operators
  • The abrupt closure of the Ontario Science Centre despite previous engineering reports indicating the building could continue operating with repairs
  • Expanding Strong Mayor powers to allow mayors to override council decisions and push through provincial priorities
  • The cancellation of renewable energy projects early in your government’s term, costing taxpayers significant contract penalties
  • Significant cuts to conservation authorities, limiting their ability to review development for flood and environmental risks
  • Legislation restricting municipalities’ ability to install new bike lanes without provincial approval
  • Attempts to change Toronto municipal governance during an election cycle, including reducing the size of city council
  • Significant cuts to the Ontario Student Assistance Program, reducing grants and increasing reliance on loans for many post-secondary students
  • Changes to Ontario rent control rules that removed rent increase protections for many newer rental units, raising concerns about housing affordability for tenants

Taken together, these decisions send a clear message that local voices matter less than large development interests.

Our communities deserve transparency, consultation, adequate healthcare, and respect for local governance.

Please stop forcing sweeping changes on municipalities and residents who have repeatedly made their opposition clear.

Your government exists to serve the people of Ontario. Unfortunately, many of your decisions give the impression that it is serving well-connected insiders rather than the public. People are paying attention. We know what’s happening, and we have had enough.

I've been struggling with my K1 since Christmas. I bought it on sale for Black Friday and no matter who I contact at Creality, no one can tell me what replacement parts to order. K1 parts don't fit my printer. They want pictures to see what 'buckle' I have, because my serial number isn't enough information, but who wants to tear down a printer just to take pictures? Now my thermistor is broken (a leg weld just fell right off while I was fixing a clog), and I can't order a new one because what do I order? This printer doesn't take K1 parts. Every time I order something, it has to get shipped back. I'm annoyed and venting, but also trying to help anyone else considering a Creality printer. Don't do it. Their support is a joke and they take zero accountability.

I've added an image for help explaining the problem. These two JST connections are completely different, but both are supposed to be for the K1. And both of these listings are Creality Official:

Here's one and here's the other.

Everything was going great until I had to replace some parts. The nozzles I bought as backup? They're supposed to be for the K1 but they didn't fit. That's how I found out I'll need nozzles that cost $20 each, or more.

The hotend kit from Amazon said K1 but the JSTs don't match. Pulled the wires to swap between the old part and the new one, and the wires don't fit either.

Nothing I'm buying for a K1 actually fits my machine. Creality refuses to answer me or help.

Anyone know what's happening here?

I'm editing to add that the parts I'm buying are official Creality parts.

I'm selling my used Ender 3 v2, and I've upgraded the hotend, extruder, screen, and bed. It comes with 25 extra nozzles, the old glass bed, and whatever else goes with it (e.g. I can't remember). Is $200 CAD a reasonable price, with delivery?

The K1 was on sale for half price, and my junk shop Ender 3 v2 had some kind of stroke, so I couldn't pass it up.

I am absolutely infatuated with it, and the Creality Print software. In 3 days, I've printed 20 hours of stuff. I've had one failure, which was probably my own fault, and everything else was flawless. It just works.

Thanks to everyone that helped me try to work out the issues from my last post.

ISOLEYIN Ultra PLA 3D Printing Filament 1kg, 1.75mm

I got two spools of this stuff (black and white). First few prints with the white went perfectly. Since then, it won't adhere normally.

I've tried increasing the bed temperature to 60, filament temperature to 210, washed the bed and reapplied the glue, dried the filament.. nothing works.

When I try a raft, it blobs through it, and then won't adhere to itself.

I'm assuming it's me, but idk what I'm doing wrong.

Please be kind, I've only had my printer for a couple of months.

For anyone wondering, it wasn't my filament. It was my nozzle. I replaced the hotend when I first got the printer, and I thought the nozzles would last longer than a few prints. As soon as I replaced it, everything was great again. Note to self, order these things in bulk.

I managed to find the greatest deal ever on a used 3D printer. I've already got a new screen with updated firmware, a new hotend kit on its way today, and I am planning on replacing the bed with tempered glass at some point (I am nervous about ordering it online). I'm also getting the enclosure because my apartment is very small.

All told, I will have spent about $175 CAD for the whole thing and I'm pretty chuffed about it.

Is there anything else I should be doing or getting to make this thing epic?

This is my first time using a 3D printer, and it has taken a little time to learn. I will happily take any advice you have to offer.

I'm editing to add that I appreciate the comments and advice, and I'm following everything all of you are telling me. As a late adopter, enthusiasts like you are a goldmine, and I am super grateful for your help!

I'm very new and I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but is there any way to set folder (and future subfolder) permissions on Ubuntu?

I use the Arrs and new folders are made automatically when something completes, but I constantly have to use Plex to optimize my videos before they'll play. Unfortunately, the new folders get locked when they're made.

I'm not sure what I've done to my setup, but I'd love some help if anyone is willing.
