There's no inbetween. Are you blob-no-thoughts or are you monke-rage ?

This is not an FFT BAD post, dw. I just wanna know.

Spells run on the AT system and so take a while to fire off. While you can press Left or Right on the d-pad to see when in the turn order a spell will go off, the time it actually takes from Select Spell to Spell Goes Off seems essentially random. Units can move while being targeted and there's no way to cancel a spell. NPC units are set to take advantage of it, both by charging into range of Cure spells, which are always multi-tile, or by sprinting into your lines when targeted by (always multi-tile) elemental attack spells.

Are mages just intended to be agents of chaos who cause impromptu kamikaze attacks and accidentally grant enemy squads Haste and shit? Many of FFT's miniscule battlefields (often 20×20 tiles total and sometimes with less than 8×8 walkable tiles, like the Death Corp hideout with the priests) quickly descend into chaos and become killing fields when a cheeky black mage clicks Bolt3.

Also no big but the way the unit zodiac alignments affect spell damage is absurd. My level 19 black mage was doing a cool ~260 damage to Wiegraf at the Orbonne Monastery book storage battle. Man's only got like 310hp......

Haven't heard anything outside of one entire tumblr account I follow.

So the discourse is that Portal (for whatever reason) now has a massive fanbase of people shipping Chell and Glados. Seems fine (if slightly inexplicable) but some have charged that doing this is simply playing dolls and fails to engage with the themes of the work.

I see where this argument is coming from but don't agree. For one thing, it doesn't escape my notice that fans could have focused on Bill Cypher style sexyman Wheatley, but we got an F/F ship instead! That's something, this could have easily been a Onceler selfship situation!

The other thing is that I think "you're not engaging with the work's themes" is kind of silly for a series whose newest installment came out fifteen years ago. I dunno if I really buy that Portal as a series is strongly anti-capitalist either, but I mean after so long with no new releases in this tortured Valve series, why not ship the protagonist and antagonist? Sounds fun.

Also some have charged that Glados is ableist and fatphobic which I guess is kinda true. But Idk, work it into their flirting somehow?

I know the morally correct way to do chickpeas is soak them the night before, but I forget to do this constantly and so recently got a can to keep in the cupboard for nights we forget to pre-soak the things. But canned chickpeas are almost fishy?

I guess it's because they sit in the chickpea water for so long, but chickpea water is supposed to be good for you! Taking these out of the can and using them immediately, they still taste like they're... about to go off?

Idk pls post ur canned chickpea impressions here.

"On ARM" sadly doesn't mean a pie in the sky fantasy where Demon's Souls can be run on an Allwinner H616 or something, alas. The target device in this video is an Ayn Odin 2, but it's still cool. The trials and tribulations of Not Having AVX512, Qualcomm disabling Scalable Vector Extensions in hypervisor like a game console, and ARM vendor GPU drivers. At a high level it isn't that hard to understand, but it is dense.

Instead we talked about regulation and socialising and stuff. Making it so that talking to people takes less spoons and results in less fight-or-flight reactions.

Also though I got complimented for being "very good at social recripocity" and "such great word choice." "Excellent vocabulary", even. I am uncertain as to whether this stems from my tumblr brainrot or my tenuous grasp of Historical & Dialectical Materialism, unusual thing.

The thrust I guess is that all signs tell me I'm the best to ever do it and I must continue to do it pineapple-stroll

Listen, I'm so tired of being a contrarian forever. Yeah Fallout 2 is the worst thing since South Park, because that's fun. And it's the same for JRPGs, I don't wanna have to battle people over whether or not Dragon Quest V is an abusive father, or Final Fantasy IV is mid but III is the real good shit.

But VII kinda rocks. Yes the Wall Market section is troubling in various ways, the game almost fails to pass the Bechdel test (nobody has ever been done dirtier than Tifa imo) and this Cid might be the worst yet, but it's such a big step up--in enviroment detail and storytelling, in the battle system, in stinky little triangles--over Final Fantasy VI, and it's yaoibait with an antagonist seme who actually has some sort of a motive and gives everyone else a reason to do stuff. Also capitalists get got which is pretty funny. The game tries to pull punches with Barrett's 'I was just doing it cuz I was mad' but nah, How To Blow Up A Mako Reactor, actually.

After six games straight that desperately tried and failed to be adequate visualisers to their Nobuo Ooematsu soundtracks, VII actually did it. I can totally see why people flipped about FFVII and it made a huge impact, actually. Three minute long summon animations and SGI workstations was the secret sauce.

I need this for long tumblr screencaps. You understand.

I try not to do image editing on my phone a lot but this is necessary. Pocketpaint I couldn't do it easily with, and another popular option on Fdroid loudly advertises its LLM slop features.

Nevada by Imogen Binnie contains a lot of questionable ideas throughout its 230 or so pages, but most pernicious of all is that Maria Griffiths gives dogshit advice about shaving.

"Anything more than three blades is for rich people"? Girl, really? You can get five-blade razors at many dollar stores in north america, and they actually do help. My trans comrades in chains, if two or three blade razors are making a bloody mess of your face, you should try a four or five blade razor.

It figures that Maria Griffiths, sheltered New Yorker that she is, doesn't know shit about shaving. Owl Criticism and others have demanded bad women, and Maria is one of the most compromised I've seen due largely to her inability advise anyone on shaving habits.

Honestly. Smh.

What kills me is that discs have been useless essentially since the late PS360. I can put a copy of Castlevania Lament of Innocence in my PS2 and it works just like it did when it was new. Meanwhile, my copy of Oblivion on 360 has that funny bug where vampirism is uncurable because the vampirism questgiver is hostile. Without updates from servers, or at best downloaded off a mirror of a file hosting site, that disc has that bug forever.

Similarly I bought a copy of No Man's Sky on the cheap for PS4 ages ago, but it's a launch copy and the game on the disc doesn't even resemble current-day 2026 No Man's Sky. And that's before considering that a PS4 with a dead clock battery needs to reset its date & time on the Sony servers before they'll let you play again.

So the current disc-cancellation is undeniably really bad, but also physical games have been on a downhill slide for usefulness for about 15 years. Also I don't see anyone noting that the PS3 & Vita PSN stores are shutting down soon.

TL;DR piracy is the only preservation
