I will always choose to take a train over a plane when traveling. The check-in and boarding is easier and less time-consuming, there's more personal space in the seating, and I get to check out the views on the journey.
'That' can be an acceptable relative pronoun to refer to people, depending on the sentence structure and context.

I think you're confusing Aeolus and the Laestrygonians. Odysseus first meets Aeolus in Aeolia, where he's given the gift of wind, then he goes to Telepylus where he meets the young girl, Antiphates' daughter. That's where they are attacked by the Laestrygonians.
