We tend to come off as haughty when Windows users show up demanding help and being insulting while having put in zero work on understanding their own problem.

The world's healing progresses much more slowly than the individual's. We have hundreds of years of colonialism and ecological devastation to heal from and that shit won't happen overnight. You are part of the world and your healing makes the world better. Focus on what you can do and do that. Trying to take responsibility for the whole mess will destroy you, it's out of your hands.

No. We'd be overrun by federal troops and decimated within a week. If we could secede peacefully? We (Wisconsin) would probably need an alliance with Minnesota and Michigan to survive.

Agree. But also, holding a sign in a park with 20 other people that you coordinated with is not nothing. It's community building and solidarity, which are both essential.

It's about resistance, not violence per we. Choosing the right kind of resistance for the situation is how change is made. Non violent protesting is for raising awareness and building solidarity. Violence is purely for defense and to show when a line has been crossed. Otherwise your movement will just become the next police state regime, if it doesn't get crushed outright. People advocating for violence on social media are either bots or bad faith actors trying to stop the movement. Anyone seriously considering violence against the state sure as shit aren't posting about it on Lemmy.

If Californians (Or everyone) just filed for extensions en masse, that alone would fuck shit up and would be totally legal.

It's the people's house. We built it. It's been stolen and you let them. Who's the anarchist?

[–] VampirePenguin@midwest.social 7 points 10 months ago (4 children)

My perspective is that you fight on ALL fronts and you don't leave power on the table for fascists to grab just because it doesn't fit in with your revolution fantasy narrative to do so. I never said nor implied that voting is enough. It isn't. But it is a simple way to keep dangerous people away from power.

Participating in democracy doesn't lead to fascism, capitalism does. Protest non-voters are idiots that gave away the one best power our system offers. Congratulations on your new fascist overlords, dummies. Anarchism is about power to the people and power to communities, you vote for the best thing for your community regardless of your personal feelings. Do I wish there was a better candidate than Kamala Harris? Hell yeah I do, but she is lightyears better than Trump for my people so she got my vote. You have to start where you are, not in some fantasy land where leftists have a viable alternative. You want change? Go find a milquetoast liberal running uncontested and primary against them. Ask hard questions and make them accountable. Sitting on your high horse while the world burns is not only useless, but an insult to the people who are actually suffering because of your choices. Fuck off.
