What are some decent places to buy and sell single cards in the EU?

All alternatives are welcome! No need to get hung up on finding "the best one".

On a glance Cardmarket seems quite popular. Any opinions on that?

Ohh so these are reprints from some select list?

Yeah consistency in a deck/collection is nice indeed

Ohh so the fancy foils have less problems?

[–] Tiuku@sopuli.xyz 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Bending immediately sounds quite extreme..

Special arts are indeed a nice non-curly option for a flashy card. (Until that's a foil too ^^ )

Searchability is an interesting practical aspect

Opinions on foiled cards

  • Do you seek them?
  • Do you avoid them?
  • Do you tolerate them?
  • Do they really bend that bad?

Thanks for the heads up! I'm fairly conservative when it comes to cosmetics, but these do pack some charm ^^

How do you arrange playsets of 4 cards in binders? Annoyingly the most natural binder size is 3x3 pockets, so you're forced to compromise one way or another.

Some options:

  • Big 4x4 binder
  • Small 2x2 binder
  • Tall 2x4 sideways pocket binder
  • Multiple cards in one pocket
  • Creative layouts
  • Only play singleton formats

The fine piece of art in this post is original content and public domain.

Do you catalogue all your cards or just the more important ones?

It would be interesting to hear how people choose what cards to keep in their collections (or choose to hunt down).

Some speculative ideas from someone just getting into magic. Feel free to comment on any of them or add your own thoughts.

  1. Gameplay utility, just being a good card in some format or another
  2. Being a fun card to play, having some amusing qualities for kitchen table play
  3. Monetary value
  4. Art, cards with art that appeals to you
  5. Artist, cards with art done by a certain artist
  6. Theme, maybe you're trying to collect all cards with airships on them, or with a particular mechanic
  7. Type, all rat creature cards will be mine
  8. Completing a set, collecting all cards from a particular set

Yeah relying solely on an online DB would seem quite reckless.

What kinds of software tools are you using with your card collections?

  • Do you keep tabs on your cards in some digital archive?
  • Wishlists?
  • Something else still?

Extra points for being open source.

Nice finds, Thanks!

Scryfall does have tags for Surreal/Surrealism, but it hardly feels complete. I’m also not sure if MC Escher-inspired cards count as surrealism, but if so that would include things like Bootlegger’s Stash.

I didn't realize that scryfall had art filters as well. Still seems to find quite a few.

A lot of the art on the Duskmourn Archenemy cards play around in a similar space.

What's the story of these Scheme cards? They don't seem to be legal anywhere.

Lastly a lot of individual mill cards seem to have pretty surreal art, like Tome Scour, Millstone, Fraying Sanity, Sweet Oblivion, Mystic Redaction, or Fractured Sanity

Ohh this is interesting! A pattern emerges. The og millstone too.

I really dig the artwork! Are there more surrealist/absurd cards? (Given the sheer numbers, I'm guessing yes)

Still both are getting all the new cards and such?

A new player here wondering what's the relation between Magic: The Gathering Arena and Magic: The Gathering Online?

Both seem to be official digital MTG implementations 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fear not, the concealment layer will make something ACK!

How do you like to bind your arrow keys, and why?

Ergo boards don't typically have dedicated arrow clusters, so we're left to bind them on some alternate layers one way or another.

Here are two prevalent layouts, along with some initial thoughts:

Homerow

Binding them linearly to a homerow on some layer.

Pros

  • Arrows directly underneath your fingertips

Cons

  • Less intuitive
  • Pinky may be weaker when going right repeatedly

Pyramid

Bind arrows in a traditional pyramid shape, likely based on a homerow as well.

Pros

  • Familiar layout
  • Extra key available for pinky, e.g. a tab might be handy

Cons

  • Finger movement required for up arrow
  • Takes space on the row above, which might matter if you'd like to have a full row of other things there

Post pic is original art by the author, public domain, commission queue is already full.

A list of CIEM manufacturers in the EU

More precisely: custom molded in-ear monitor brands whose products can be ordered in the EU without invoking import-duties. So Norway is okay, but Switzerland and UK are not.^EEA

Outside EU brands that have manufacturing branches within the EU are okay too.

Structure

  • Top-level comments introduce new manufacturers with a link and some basic info
  • One brand per top-level comment
  • Opinions and additional info can be shared freely in nested comments
  • Vote for your favorites!

Shifter, the cycle commuting channel is in Peertube too. Some the best cycling video content in the fediverse! (for now at least)

They seem so good in the movies, but actually taste mostly just like straight vodka, which most people aren't going to enjoy.
