The person in question also looks like she's in her early 20's. She had a chronic condition where she was basically in a waking coma but wasn't "experiencing" stuff for a decade so it's as if time had jumped from her POV because she has no memories of that period.

This gap is so disorienting for her that she identifies her age as 22. Being told her actual birth year causes confusion and distress, as it clashes with her sense of time and personal experience.

Met him when I was 11 and he was 15. He was the tough kid at school but always nice to me and stood up for younger kids. This experience was so formative, I based a lot of my personality around him.

Tried messaging him again in December but he deleted his account before reading it. Later found out he got arrested for trying to rob his neighbour's house and people were calling him a "smackhead" / heroin addict.

I always knew he was kind of a rebel but I never thought he'd end up like that.

AI facial scan technology keeps saying she looks 15 but I've known her for a long time, when she was 21 she looked 12ish. When she was 18 she looked about 10. She says her hormones were checked when she was 24 and they were normal, she says she only looks young because she has big eyes and a small nose. Starting about 2 years ago her face started getting acne, and any treatments just made it worse. the only thing that helped was antibiotics. it isn't just one or two spots, she says she's getting up to a dozen new spots at once and parts of her face are constantly sore. Some of the spots are very tiny, like pore-sized, and get white heads. She never had acne when she was in school or college and she doesn't wear any makeup and hasn't tried anything new. Before her period she gets very irritated-hyper, one time she got so pissed off at a pretty mundane thing she threw a mug at the wall. Her bloods are normal too since she had those checked recently. She also told me once that her sweat is "very sticky" rather than watery.

Since 31 is still very young, is this normal for her age? I was told acne typically stops by 45. I mean for a cis woman (I'm trans so idk if this is just normal cis woman things)

Look up videos of her on YouTube or TikTok and you'll see lots of people acting like she's on death's door just because some of her bones are visible.

I've seen so many people on TikTok and YouTube act like she's literally dying and claim she must be starving herself.

I'm tired of seeing this double standard where if a man has a collarbone visible nobody bats an eye but god forbid a woman has some bone showing, she must automatically be starving herself or unhealthy. It's like no matter what a woman's body looks like, she just can't win. She has to be in this extremely narrow range or she's either anorexic or morbidly obese. I used to have Ariana's body type. I had prominent abs and had the most energy I had in my life back then. BMI is wildly inaccurate, too. You could have a BMI of 20 while having a body fat percentage in the obese range. Women aren't supposed to weigh as much as men at the same height, they have less muscle which is also the reason why Asian BMI over 23 is considered overweight or obese since they're supposed to be lighter

Two times I've been asked where I'm from by a stranger it's been from a roadman. One asked if I got spare change for the bus so me being the generous person I am, give him some. He said "aw thanks mate". I said no worries mate, then without missing a beat he said "where are you from, you from around here". I said um yeah just down the street. He nodded and then we had a friendly convo for maybe five minutes. It's also happened when I walk past one or some of them.

Does the melody I hummed ring a bell at all? https://voca.ro/1fiQl9tlBHoh I tried tapping the melody on a song finding site but can't find it either. The vocals matched the melody too.

https://voca.ro/1fiQl9tlBHoh the melody I’m humming was made up by what sounded like the piano sound from Head over Heels by Tears for Fears except in like major key. The vocals complimented the melody by having a similar intonation

edit 3 - me humming the melody https://voca.ro/1fiQl9tlBHoh I also want to stress again it wasn’t a slow or chill song. It had energy very similar to I Feel For You by Chaka Khan, and the melody I’m humming was made up by what sounded like the opening piano in Head Over Heels by Tears For Fears, except in major. The singer’s vocals also complimented the melody since the vocals had a similar intonation as the melody I’m humming. I only caught one or two words but I swear she says “nothing really matters” or “nothing ever matters” “nothing truly matters” or “nothing matters”. It's not Madonna - Nothing Really Matters. I include a list of what it isn't below..

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.cafe/post/26937525

It's an 80s pop/dance/house song. There's this dancy, warm electric bass that's constantly in the background. The electric bass sounds like this (4:15 minute mark) the melody of it (the bass part) also sounded a little similar to what is in that video.

Then there's this very 80's instrument that plays in it between some lines, that's also very weird. It goes like "DU-NA-NU-NAAHH-NAAA" in quick succession. It's a sharp highish pitched synthetic/electronic sound. It sounded like something from this old game called Road Trip Adventure. It (referring to that one instrument/electronic sound) had a similar soundfont.

There's also a piano sound that's kind of low pitched. Sounded electronic/like a synth, but close to a real piano with the sound being held on to a little longer. I also remember the singer saying "yoouuuu" in a high pitched way.

The song is very energetic and sounds like something you'd hear at a party or disco. It also sounded a little romantic. I heard it in a shop earlier and now it's driving me mad lol. ChatGPT keeps saying it's a 90s Madonna song, but that's not it. It is a very euphoric and nostalgic sounding song even though I've never heard it before. It almost sounds like she's celebrating in the song.

The vibe/emotion/energy it gave is most similar to I Feel For You by Chaka Kahn, especially the later part. It was also fast-ish.

== edit ==

The song MAY have had this weird "get, get get down!" line in it, or something that sounded similar to that (I was talking to someone in the shop so my memory of it is muffled) but I am not 100% certain.

The song wasn't slow and sounded heavenly.

I can't really whistle, but the part of the melody I remember most went like this https://voca.ro/17IhmkCs2oHu there was this piano that sounded a bit synth that made up much of that melody. There was also an electric bass sound. The melody was slightly slower than my whistled version of it. The piano sounded similar to the piano in Head over Heels by Tears for Fears except it sounded like the major version of it if that makes sense?

What it isn't (in the original thread people gave suggestions, none of these matched):

  • Madonna - Nothing Really Matters

  • Missing You by Diana Ross

  • How Can I Ease the Pain by Lisa Fischer

  • Gotta Tell You by Samantha Mumba

  • Electric Feel by MGMT

  • Don’t Walk Away by Jade

  • Tell Me by Groove Theory

  • Right Here by SWV

  • Queen Bohemian Rhapsody

  • Sinead O’Connor Nothing compares to you

  • What Have You Done For Me Lately - Janet Jackson

  • Platinum Blonde’s “It Doesn’t Really Matter”

  • Janet Jackson - Doesn’t Really Matter

  • nothing really matters by David Guetta

  • Since You’ve Gone” – Belinda Carlisle (1986)

  • Basia - New Day For You

  • Ain’t Nobody by Rufus and Chaka Khan

  • PROM - Nothing Really Matters Anymore

  • D-Mob feat. Cathy Dennis - That's The Way Of The World

  • Breakout - Swing Out Sister - 1996

It wasn't a slow or chill song, it was a song you'd hear at some dance party.

I was 11-12. I'm a she btw. I was having the worst day of my life in school and he protected me from bullies and scared them off. We became friends although we weren't in the same class since he was 15-16. After I returned to school I never saw him again and I never actually got his name. Because he was no longer there to protect me I started getting bullied again. YouTube recommended me a song last night, it's a 20 year old song and it was one he always listened to and sang. And I just got really teary eyed listening to it. Sometimes I miss him when I'm going through shit during the present day. Is this normal? Anyone else had similar experiences? I just hope wherever he is now he's okay

My friend joined a car forum, because she's into cars. She wanted to ask about car components, and the thread got about 14 pages in just a few days, but most people weren't actually answering her questions, they just kept accusing her of being a man because the forum apparently once had someone "pretending to be a woman". They kept calling her he/him, even though she said that she is a she (she's cis). She's 23 and most of the userbase on the mentioned forum are men in their 30's and 40's. She was being civil throughout the entire thing mentioning that it's rude to misgender someone. Apparently the way she talked was too "proper" to be "girly" and people responded that her knowledge of car components was a "red flag" that she must secretly be a man. She pointed out that she doesn't know why they're so obsessed over a random stranger's genitals and they replied back with "you're the one who mentioned genitals, we think you're the obsessed one here". I wish that I was joking. Reminds me of the internet 20 years ago.

I turned 30 yesterday. Nobody besides my family believe me when I tell them how old I am. Everyone else consistently says I look 18 or 19. I do not use make up or any skincare products. I've always eaten a diet of junk food so it makes no sense. I've always looked considerably younger than my actual age throughout my life, consistently freaking people out when I tell them how old I am. When I was 16, people told me that I looked 9. One of my friends messaged me about this study which said that some people actually do age a lot slower compared to other people, and looking considerably younger is often a sign of that. My appearance got the attention of doctors who were convinced that I had some kind of hormonal disorder, but when those tests came back normal, they were stumped. Whatever it is, it's not genetic because my sibling looks their age, so do all my other family members on both sides. I used this app called FaceAge (after one of my friends told me about it, curious what the results would be) and it estimated my age to be 18. When I uploaded a photo of myself from 2020, it said I was 16.

I got really sick a little over a decade ago which caused me to be semi-bedbound from when I was 19 all the way up until I was nearing 30. I had heart and neurological problems caused by Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which have since been treated, but because of that illness affecting the blood supply to my brain, I hardly remember anything from my 20's. My 20's seemed more like a weird fever dream than anything very tangible (I mostly just remember hospital appointments) and suddenly I'm 30 but I don't feel 30, physically or mentally. Anyway, I recently thought about the people I knew in school who I forgot the names of. Some of them were a couple of years older than me, and I'm just imagining how old they must all look now even though they aren't that much older than me, and how they're probably experiencing slow downs. I look like how they did when they left school now. That just makes me feel really upset for some reason. The best way I can describe it is similar to how you feel about a cat or dog ageing a lot faster than you.

Another issue is with dating. If I put my age on my profile, with my photos, I'm going to look like I'm catfishing or something, even though I'm not. And even then, it's going to look weird for a 35 year old man to go out on a date with someone who looks like she's barely old enough to gamble.

Asking this since I've always been told the former and that your bladder rupturing from not going to the toilet is a myth and the story of Tycho Brahe is too old to be reliable. But in recent years, I've seen articles about people drinking alcohol and passing out and their bladders bursting because the sensations got dulled (which still shouldn't affect the sphincters giving way due to the pressure before the bladder actually ruptures, since it's about the sphincters being not physically strong enough to hold back the pressure).

The existence of overflow incontinence would seem to contradict this story from 2020, for example. Alcohol dulls the urge to urinate, but overflow incontinence often happens in absence of this urge as well, and when the detrusor muscles (which squeeze the bladder) aren't working.

What's the straight dope here?
