Haha memory unlocked, it was the first transformers movie, it started off perfectly, clean picture, good audio, but by the end of it we had been treated to about 6 different versions, form camcorder out of the movie theatre with people moving around, different languages and sub titles, was an experience lol

The year was 2022 sorry, the system was probably about $1500ish still up there but compared to to my current one on my place is about 30k, keep an eye on market place people get rid of old systems all the time

Yer I'm in Oz so no shortage of sun here lol

Yer, that's the perfect getting in the way of the good problem, are old car batterys as good as 2v deep cycle ones? no, but there still fine to use if you have nothing else. Are you gonna run a whole house off em? No, but I ran my fridge, tv, lights and a small water pump most days up till about 11pm off I think about 12 old truck batterys,

Always has been, the big difference is it wasn't streamed straight into your eyes in real time

Umm around 2022ish, the solar panels were free from the tip, the batteries were also free form a mine site(collapsed cells could hold 12v but couldn't crank out high amps), solar controlers were from eBay 150 bucks or something and a 5000w inverter was 600ish from memory also probably about 200 bucks worth of battery cable and connectors,

Make your own solar system? Il built my first one out of 7 or 8 second hand panels, old truck batterys and eBay inverters, I can't find any photos, but it was enough to a fridge, tv, charge phones and lights

I was confused why you had brought programming into it but I realised where I was lol I could always take the light out, can't waste resources on something that doesn't exist

Doesn't say I can't leave the door open of the room with a light, or just put someone else in the room while I flick the switchs, use a few mirrors to bounce the light back to me,

G'day Green thumbs. I want to quote Jeff Goldblum right now, " life finds a way". In my last post I had assumed total failure due to a lack of germination of the seeds I had planted, not one had sprouted in the time frame it should of, and I had moved on content with the understanding that the seeds had simply passed there viability.

Then

A few days ago I'm walking past and pop here's this little beaut stickin outta the dirt with about 10 other friends of various species, looks like peas, kale, beans, carrots, cauliflower and cabbage.

Now I did test roughly 1/3 of the total seeds I planted for germination and about the same has come up in the dirt, so that's about right, Il be throwing the rest of the seeds in the next coming days just to get em in there and hope for the best.

"Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you sow"

G'day Green thumbs, today I'm updating you guys on my gardening adventures plus a side quest

I've got good news and bad news. good news is my grass is growing that's it in the picture, a few tiny sprouts is a good sign, In a few more weeks it should be well on its way. Bad news is I think I fucked up and didn't realize how old my seeds were and I think they've lost their viability because I can't find a single sprout of anything except for strawberries and maybe pumpkins but I got those seeds from supermarket fruit. On reflection I realized that the seeds i planted were probably more than five years old, how time does get away from you, I guess the next step is to test the remaining seeds for germination in control and environment probably Chinese containers with wet tissue paper or something just to see if they germinate at all other than that I'll probably just get some new seeds and try again.

what's that quote? you always paying for your lessons either with money or experience?, something like that so yeah that's a bugger but failure isn't fatal, learn and move forward.

G'day green thumbs, this is going to be a experiment in just letting nature mostly just run it's course, I've dug 3 shallow trenches and have just mixed the dirt in with a bit of Bunnings veg dirt mix just to put a bit of nutrients in the ground, topped with some straw. I won't be using any kind of pesticides and probably only a few applications of seasol throughout the season. Any thoughts/queries/concerns or predictions are welcome

All plants from seed, broadbeen, broccoli, kale, pea, coriander, chives, carrot, lettuce, silverbeet, cabbage, cauliflower, beetroot, pumpkin, strawberries
