Because decades of propaganda has conditioned us to do so. They couldn't attack communism because the ideals of communism are actually great to 99% of the population, so instead they painted communism with the blood that people abusing communism shed and told us all it was the nature of the beast.

I do not know if it's my genuine and jaded opinion or my programming as a USian, but I also have a distaste for Communism. The ideals are all that I want in the world but I can't think of any situation where it wasn't immediately transformed into authoritarian or destroyed from the outside. It feels half baked, so close to done but lacking the internal structure to transition from the representative system we've been using since gods ordained kings. Without that, bad actors will always have an easy access to power and like a cancer they are not so readily cut out when they metastasis.

Personally, I think the only way to organize more than 50 humans is to take humans out of the equation. Power will always encourage the darker impulses of man, so why let it be the option? I'd propose technocracy. None of this llm bullshit, no AI singularity, just statistics, data, and analysis processed by an open source, fully transparent, machine. We know population statistics to a fraction of a percent, how do you gerrymander if the computer can district a state to have functionally identical population distribution. A token representative body selected by the machine from each district for their abilities to maintain the machine and update it prevents cult of personality from putting the unqualified in power. Changes to regulation can be posed and voted on by text, no human hand to disqualify you for a hanging chad. Changes preferred are implemented in the best statistically possible way as long as they don't go against the core principle in the computer. All of this could be run on the server I use to run jellyfin, most of it has been proposed to the government multiple times over the last 50 years, but why would a man release power to a thing that would destroy him?

I use the old school method. Each password is a combination of my one preferred password, and three words that relate to the subject but are too funny to forget. For instant, Amazon would be "FuckJeffBezos123456Aa*" or something like that. I only have to remember my version of the "123456Aa*" because every time I think about amazon I already think "fuck Jeff Bezos".

This uses your mind's natural ability to associate instead of just raw memory. It also guarantees your passwords always meet requirements.

Lastly, record them all in the meat space in a small journal that I place in a conspicuous place. You can't hack a notebook and I'm not important enough to rob for access to my Lemmy account.

The rapid cooling with water actually shocks the egg shell and protein, making them separate, you can probably cook it for 2 or 3 extra min, then dunk them in ice water to get the perfect peal.

For mine, you mix and season the eggs in a bowl, butter the sheet pan, pour the eggs into it and bake at 300 for about 10min. Add cheese as soon as it comes out. You get a flat sheet of scrambled egg that you then cut into squares to make patties.

Pretty sure it's not the boning part, my sexuality is anything but repressed.

As for walking past each other, out of the question. We're both anxiety riddled human flamingo nerds, we'd be able to spot each other miles away. Ambush tactics are the only safe bet so it comes down to which of us was less distracted by the lighting and managed to impromptu a weapon first.

It's a blast, tell your friends.

A big emotion I've been dealing with is that the US decided to fall apart completely at the same time I finally got my life together. I used to be someone with a reputation, someone who didn't have anything to lose or anything better to be doing. Now I have a wife and kid, career, I'm on my way to a degree, and I'm scared.

I didn't care if I threw my life away back then, it waant getting used anyways, but now that I am using it I'm to terrified of losing that to protect what I have.

I got about a buck.

You could compare it to something in the same environment instead of something that comes across as misogynistically charged.

Using makeup and bra styles as your example, even if you aren't intending any slight by it, evokes the constant societal effort to police women's bodies. This is a huge discomfort for a majority of people either because they are women who are subjected to this, or they care about women who are dealing with it.

A great example for less charged comparisons would be existing propaganda, things like the "got milk?" program, the push to use of Vegtable oils after WW2 when the government had a surplus and needed to do something with it, or even the decades long campaign to frame fat as the cause of the obesity epidemic everyone knew it was sugar. All of these have a very similar tone to AI suggesting to glue your pizza or cook your pasta in gasoline.

You could even site actual fake things. Our health department is currently lead by an Anti-Vaxxer. We didn't need a data center to make that lie stick.

Communication is a big part of all this, we don't know what your feelings are, just what you said. We have to guess from what you say and what was said paints you in a bad light.

Why don't we operate our own bot farms? It can't all be run by idealistic foreign actors, most of them have to be in it for the money. Why not buy bots to convince the useful stupid of the nation to actually vote for their own interests?

Best laptop I ever had was an HP with touch screen and Ubuntu. Anything I couldn't easily do with basic keyboard controls I'd just tap the screen. Had my start bar up the right side so I could poke with my dominant hand to me very between progams. It was accurate enough I could tap to set my typing course when I was editing documents and rarely have to arrow key around.

I didn't realize how much I'd miss it until I built my current desktop. If I knew how to DIY the two 32in TVs I use for monitors into touch I would in a heartbeat.

The best way to bowl is to put the rails up so no one can gutter ball, then play for lowest score. It's impossible to take serious, no one can be good or bad at it, a 7/10 split still sucks, and the people in the next lane will be very confused.

Fun all around.

I feel the same as OP but it's not due to lack of knowledge, it's good threat assessment. My political ideology is anchored entirely in the idea of empathy and being left alone so foreign actors trying to radicalize me isn't going to go far. Data about my political leanings are going to be an anomaly on the graph so it won't help anyone trying to sway a nation that already doesn't want any of my input regardless of who's in charge.

As for corpos, I would gladly buy all of my stuff internationally if it got me a better price, but now all it gets is slower shipping. Meanwhile, the local corpos actively spy on my every move so they can better rip me off. It's, a good idea to be worried about a gunfight happening down the block, but it shouldn't distract from the gunfight in your yard.

Yes, the best practice is to sure up against every threat, but in a practical sense, worrying about an international body harvesting my data is like watching a burglar open your front door and deciding you need bars on the attic vent.

Local tap is dubious at best and leaded at worst so we fill 5gallon jugs at a filter station the next town over. I'm getting tired of transporting and paying for water, so I'd like to make a filter that won't just clog up with hard water in a week. Anyone have recommendations on where to start?

So I have two turtles, a female eastern box turtle named Morticia and a male ornamental box turtle named Digger. Both are heathly weight, neither are exibiting signs of illness, and I custom built their enclosure to fit their range and environmental needs with the temp ranging from 70° to 80° f and humidity of between 70% and 90%. They have a pool that I refill, heat lamp, UVB lamp, variable terrain, rocks to climb, plants (for Digger to murder), spagnum moss, and gravel, coconut husk, and soil to dig in, as well as outside time when weather permits it. They have a regular diet of crickets, mega worms, vegetables, fruits, and occasionally cooked chicken bits and egg shell. All of this is to say, I've done my research and I'm pretty well versed on the care.

Digger is ADHD Incarnate. He runs laps, digs holes, fights rocks, murders every single plant that tries to grow, takes a warm bath and does it again. If I'm working on my computer he comes up to the air slots on the front of the tank and judges me for putting plants in his terf.

Morty sits. She has a spot equal distance from both lights with partial shade from a driftwood log and she will not move from that spot ever under any circumstances. If she's not sitting comfortably half shelled and watching the world around her, she's sleeping, splayed out like she's dead, head resting on the edge of the pool like a pillow. She will begrudging move to eat, but will take it back to her spot if. She does. I've checked, and there are no eggs under her. If you try to move her anywhere else she makes her way back to her spot. If you take her out of the enclosure she shells up until shes back in the enclosure, then goes back to her spot. She will only move with any level of urgency for Watermelon.

I have taken her to the vet about this and aside from stating that she's in good health, his only advice was to pick her up and move her so she has to walk back to her spot or put her food out of reach so she has to move towards it. It's so consistent that I'm worried about her health, it can't be good for anything to be that sedentary and Digger moving at the speed of sound just makes it look all the more concerning. The vet's only suggestion was putting her food further away or moving her around. What do I do about this?

Like the title says. Stated getting this notification every time I open fennec.

The push service application is no longer available. It may have been uninstalled. Please re-inable UnifiedPush.

Is this something I should do or is there a way to turn this off?

I have a few cheap Roku tvs, turns out they have developer mode and you can sideload stuff onto it. Unfortunately, DDG just gives me a bunch of guides on how to activate developer mode, each one ending with "go find it yourself on github" when it comes to what to actually put on it.

Anyone have experience doing this? Do you have suggestions for what to load on it? We only really use it for jellyfin at the moment but this feels like a fun little thing to play with.

Hey gang, do you have any suggestions for moving data from my phone to my jellyfin server? I tried using the daemon tools on F-Droid and could not for the life of me figure them out.

I want to turn a bunch of magic card art into a similar, cyberpunk style for a custom deck I'm making and so far I can't really find anything that will do it as well as perchance's image maker works

Hey gang, I posted this in the relevant community but I figured it won't hurt to cast a larger net. I haven't done the custom ROM biz since around 2013 and I'm looking to degoogle my family on the cheap. I've spent the last 3 weeks getting dicked around by google pixels so if I can avoid those entirely I'd like to.

My plan is to go with CRDroid, curate the apps myself using mostly FOSS. Here's where I'm in need of an adult:

  1. Oneplus 9 is in my price range and looks like it will last but I can only find it t-mobile locked. I can carrier unlock it myself, but will I be able to access the boot loader. I know I can't at all for Verizon, I wanna make sure i don't accidentally get trapped again.

  2. I can't find many options outside of GrapheneOS, lineage, and crdroid, is that really the whole list? I like the options in crdroid but I'll take other suggestions.

  3. I've been using Blu phones for ages, they don't come with any of the headache to get them unlocked and I've been using this one for nearly 8 years so I know they last. Is there a ROM that runs on Blu? I hate that all the compatible devices are name brand, high dollar, nonsense.

  4. Are there any parental control apps that aren't just data harvesters? I want to give me kid a phone for emergencies, but he's 11 with ADHD that gives him the impulse control of a toddler surrounded by candy. It'd be safer for everyone if I didn't make is easy for him to repeat the mistakes I made at his age.

Any help whatsoever would be amazing, I've been coming apart at the seams over this for 3 weeks now and all I really want is to be able to take all the crap off my next phone and not wake up with new crap installed.

The last anime I actually really liked was Cowboy Bebop. I try getting into it off and on but I'm kind of put off by the common tropes. That said, my d&d characters for the past 20 years have been some variation of "that's an awful lot of hydra meat that's going to waste if I don't cook it" which I understand is the premise of the show.

Is it worth giving it a try? Am I going to have to sit through an unreasonable amount of jiggling tits?

Update: I wanna thank everyone for the advice, I'm shipping the bunk phone back for refund today and ive got my eye on a few from swappa and back market for when I get the money to buy.

I'll probably try out graphene but after looking into crdroid I'm pretty stoked about it having all the customization I've been wanting for ages. Which ever feels cleaner to manage and easier for the family to pick up will probably be the go to.

So I fell for the classic blunder and ended up with a pixel that's not OEM unlocked despite being advertised as such. After a few hours of searching it looks like the only way I'm getting an OEM unlocked pixel is full price from Google itself. I don't have $400 for a new phone, I bought the one I have for $150 in 2019.

Are there any cheaper ways to get control of my phone?

Try as I might, I can't get the subject of any image to not look directly at the viewer. Does anyone have suggestions to stop this?

Hey gang, I'm looking for something small I can run on Linux, I'm just trying to get all the art in my proxy Magic deck to match. I've got 16gb of ram and a 6gb gpu, so stable diffusion is just a bit too much for me even if I could get it to run. Any suggestions?
