I didn't see a dedicated page to this incident yet, but there is a section specifically for this event here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Memorial_Reflecting_Pool

Adding onto this. Just a few highlights from the article:

She said: “I posted a poster for the Tiananmen Square massacre commemoration in Sutton and right after that, that account made deepfake images about me. They’ve been tagging my username since they started it.

Ni said that one of the posts accusing her of animal abuse had correctly written that she had a cat. She said: “I feel like they’re doing some kind of profiling of me … Every time I go out, I feel like I might be followed or watched. And I actually think that might be the case.”

Considering that there are secret Chinese police stations in other countries that target people like her, she likely is correct.

Legal Eagle has a good list going with sources over here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hybL-GJov7M

It's a 40 minute long video, so not something you can just send to someone with that attitude and say, "Watch it!" and expect them to actually watch it. But it would be a great way to get a list started with some sources. Judging by a list of timestamps in the comments, there are ~100 individual items from this video.

A small snippet from the article includes details for a decent number of the deaths:

Among the 518 dead, 490 were male, 21 were children and 16 were security officers, Othman said, adding that 197 had died from shotgun wounds.

But he explained that the death toll could be higher as some victims had been buried without the authorities being told.

More than 2,000 people were injured, including 120 security officers, he added.

I clicked on a few more, a decent number of the links aren't really advocating for murder/violence at all.

There was one link I clicked on that did lead to someone advocating for murder (Kokesh), I didn't recognize who it was and their name wasn't highlighted as an instance Admin.

Looking at the modlog for that user, they have had a number of comments removed for advocating for murder/violence, so this is probably just a comment that slipped through the cracks.

I'm all for an age cap. It should be dynamic and based on some sort of percentage of the average lifespan of the population in their area.

It would provide a good incentive for them to vote in/pass legislation which would help raise the overall life expectancy of everyone.

Poe's Law strikes again:

Adding a /s would help convey that intent a little more. And if you're going for the "Got ya!" satire effect, you could always hide it in a spoiler.

Just to add a little context to this. The Brave CEO donated $1k to California's Proposition 8 almost 20 years ago (in 2008). 6 years later he formally apologized for it and stepped down as the CEO of Mozilla.

His apology is viewable on his website: https://brendaneich.com/

The worst part is, this did apply to state law enforcement up until the final revision when they decided to change it:

https://legiscan.com/CA/text/SB627/id/3267892

~~(e)For the purposes of this section, “law enforcement agency” means any agency, department, or other entity of the state or any political subdivision thereof that employs a peace officer as described in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2 of the Penal Code, and any federal agency that enforces local, state, or federal laws.~~

(2) “Law enforcement agency” means any of the following:

(A) Any entity of a city, county, or other local agency, that employs a peace officer described in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2 of the Penal Code.

(B) Any law enforcement agency of another state.

(C) Any federal law enforcement agency.

As far as cults go, they don't sound like a "literal cult" when reading about them on Wikipedia:

Ian Johnson argued that applying the 'cult' label to Falun Gong effectively "cloaked the government's crackdown with the legitimacy of the West's anticult movement". He wrote that Falun Gong does not satisfy common definitions of a cult: "its members marry outside the group, have outside friends, hold normal jobs, do not live isolated from society, do not believe that the world's end is imminent and do not give significant amounts of money to the organisation ... it does not advocate violence and is at heart an apolitical, inward-oriented discipline, one aimed at cleansing oneself spiritually and improving one's health."[74]: 224  David Ownby similarly wrote that "the entire issue of the supposed cultic nature of Falun Gong was a red herring from the beginning, cleverly exploited by the Chinese state to blunt the appeal of Falun Gong".[63]

If you want to maintain some sort of privacy when voting on any platform in the Fediverse:
Create an alt account, do not make any posts/comments with it, only use it for voting.

Otherwise we would need an instance that generates a bunch of voting accounts. Then, when you vote on something, the instance randomly assigns that vote to one of their voting accounts and sends out that vote information to other instances. Then only the Admins of your home instance would be able to view your voting history.

Looks like they were actually aware of it after all.

If you watch the video of it, they come in very calmly and the first thing they say is, "you've been swatted again."

MegaLag had posted this video yesterday, but PayPal pulled some strings to get it taken off of both YouTube and Patreon.

MegaLag just reuploaded it to YouTube.

The title of a 2,000-year-old Greek philosophical text has been read by computer scientists using AI to study scrolls buried by the eruption of Vesuvius.

I've heard of similar tech being used to decipher text from the dead sea scrolls, it's awesome to see these advances happening.
