Given that the US is a fascist state at the moment and that Reddit is an American media company that has to navigate in that country where propaganda and free speech suppression is so present that seems to be a given.

You believe a great deal about capitalism that isn't true. Capitalism is very much not about bringing down cost, socialism is. Capitalism hates innovation, if capitalists have something that makes them money they'll commit bloody mass murder rather than change it, look at the oil industry, the tobacco industry, US healthcare, the whole PFAS debacle etc, etc, etc.
Ah, the old "glorifying violence" eh?
Pretty much the same that and people reporting my every comment after I wrote a few negative comments on Trump and Musk.
Why would you not want to live in a post scarcity society? There would be no downside except you don't get to feel you are better than someone else because of the stuff you posess or the money you make. Your comment reads very much like "fuck you I got mine"
The problem stopping distribution to where stuff is needed is money, the people who have it, the people who owe it, the funny patterns it makes on stock markets, in hedge funds etc.
Money was ok as a means to allow people to exchange their different trades into things they need to live. But it has moved so far beyond that it has become ridiculous.
This a thousand times. The world is throwing away resources at an astounding rate while people are sick, homeless and starving because of numbers on digital ledgers. We need to drop the whole idea of money. It's served its purpose, run its course and has since turned into a life on this planet threatening perversion.
If Americans had the balls to copycat this, they would have done so months ago, healthcare would have been reformed as a result or at least health insurance companies would be unable to find anyone willing to be CEO for them.
Indeed the X-wing "wings" are more supports to mount weapons on than they are airfoil. Tie fighters have a totally different approach to flight.
Andor is of course beholden to the fantasy world it is set in, it did convince me as a sound socio-political story. The fears and distrusts both of the rebels and the military/ intelligence services, the anti Ghorman propaganda, it's awesome.
Not all star wars is the same. While I agree that it is space fantasy rather than sci-fi, some of it is more serious and well made than the rest. I have absolutely loved Andor, Rogue one and Solo, and the first and second series of the Mandalorian. It's starwars with very limited force use.
While the space flight isn't realistic, the wings aren't really a problem. Look at the space shuttle.... Real spacecraft with wings.

I admit not obeying traffic rules all the time when cycling. When I break rules I do so when it is safe. Often there is a choice between the rules and safety. Some bike lanes are unsafe and need to be avoided. Sometimes I break rules in the interest of conserving momentum, because building speed takes effort. I only do so when it is safe. As a cyclist I have a good view of traffic around me and I can often get off the road if necessary, which cars can't.
I'm not going to go through the red light when there are cars passing through... That would be stupid.
Communism as it has been tried was indeed flawed af. We're going to need something else if we want to survive and be much more extreme than that. Your old communism was still a money economy, with the inherent problems thereof, functioned badly with greedy and fearful people at the top.
It's always funny to me that when you tell them capitalism sucks you are a fan of 20th century East bloc regimes. No I'm not a tankie. Tankies are extremely stupid.
