They used to be great but the last 30 years the quality has gone way down, to the point where they’re the worst build EUDM vehicles you can buy, save for GM vehicles. Even Audi, their premium brand, has become shit. Stellantis may have worse software but they’re arguably better build. To be fair the quality, industry wide with no exceptions, has gone down but VW have done some questionable things, like dieselgate and the launch of the ID3/4, that ended up insanely expensive and has forced them to pinch every penny.

Yea even while ignoring musk Teslas are absolutely dogshit, plus they feel like tech illiterates idea of a high tech vehicle. European ford EVs are VWs which isn’t exactly a stamp of approval.

Fun fact, the Chiang Jiang is a copy of the Russian Ural/IMZ motorcycle which again is a copy of the pre-ww2 BMW R71. They then developed their own OHV head (that is almost identical to BMWs OHV head) when the flathead became too underpowered and fuel inefficient.

The bike, an old Chiang Jiang CJ750, belonging to a good friend of mine needed some work. It was down on power, hard to start and had some electrical gremlins. I made a new wiringharness as the old wires were pinched and grounding out all sorts of places and gave it a new starter relay, the old one were only rated for 6 volts and would stick on from time to time. The carbs got cleaned and the valves adjusted. Now it runs like a champ and starts better than most new cars.

You can disable that. I did it for a game that would compile shaders for a unreasonable long time and it didn’t impact performance in any observable way.

Are you Australian? Because those guys has some different needs than most other “western” countries. But I’m not really talking about Pajeros, Jimnys and other proper 4x4s, I’m talking about Chelsea tractors with low profile tyres and no low range that are bought by people who have no use for 4wd and just want to look “cool”
