Every time this stupid story hits the press . . the answer is the same: Dublin, Dublin, DUBLIN. Take your 2nd passport, fly to Dublin, take the train to Belfast, cross on the ferry, train home.
This is a moronic policy by the UK Home Office and should be fixed . .but there is such a simple - and LEGAL - way around it.
It still works . . sometimes. I've had to re-try multiple times and/or log out and try a different anonymous account. In the end over the past week, on 3 different phones, I've been able to update. But each time was a flaf.
