I think its that people see all the shitty things their own country does and realize that its not really and better. Especially if your an American and your tax dollars are used to fund a genocide for Israel and concentration camps in the US. Neither country has any morale high ground.

That's not what I asked though. Did the majority of the Afghan people want the Soviets to intervene? Its my understanding that most Afghans didn't want the Soviets there, given how they overthrew the government a few years after the Soviets left.
