New on my radar. They are a Dutch-language art-rock band, with 2 drummers and who dress like they are extras in a student homage to Office Space. Relatively challenging listening for me, but sometimes you need that.

Great news!

The ghost of Martin Niemöller Haunts the halls of history When they came for the communists He said “It’s nothing to do with me”

When they came for the democrats He had nothing to say And when they came for the Jews He just looked the other way

His silence didn’t save him When they came for him as well There was no one to speak out for him Resistance had been quelled

What excuses would you tell yourself If this ever happened to you? Well I live in a city of heroes I know what I would do

When they came for the immigrants I got in their face When they came for the refugees I got in their face When they came for the five-year-olds I got in their face When they came to my neighbourhood I just got in their face

They use tear gas and pepper spray Against our whistles and our phones But in this city of heroes We will protect our home

When they dragged people from their cars I got in their face When they took families from their homes I got in their face When they murdered our sister I got in their face When they murdered our brother I still got in their face

In Dachau Martin Niemöller Suffered for his complicity But in this city of heroes We learn the lessons of history

I will bear witness to terror I will bear witness to tyranny I will bear witness to murder I will bear witness to fascism

New track form a NYC based act that is fronted by Ruby Rogers-Garcia who, as I found out in this article, is the daughter of Australian alterntive rock hero, tim Rogers (You Am I).

Happy Birthday to Aztec Camera front man, Roddy Frame, for 29 Jan.

It's summer where I am, so it was nice to get to a beer garden on Saturday afternoon to see a set by singer/songwriter, Amaya Laucirica and her band.

She is often compared to bands like Cocteau Twins, Alvvays, The Sundays, The Go-Betweens etc, but much of her output evokes Mazzy Star for me.

Her 2025 album is a bit more electro-pop to my ears.

Amaya's band consists of members who are also playing with Underground Lovers (I believe). I think I will post something from them, next.

Just my laziness. I don’t feel like the eating experience is diminished, though.

To a mostly Australian audience , clarification is not really needed, and certainly not for anyone British. I was trying to be mindful of a wider audience.

Assembled some mince pies.

12 fruit mince pies on a wire rack. The pies have a star shaped top that allow you to see the fruit mince that is inside

12 fruit mince pies arranged on a ceramic plate that is decorated with Australian native flora and a Rosella

Well, that's 5 mins of my time I will never get back. Having said that, I've also wasted an hour "talking" to a so-called "customer service" agent on a chat thing today, which was much more frustrating.

Edit - for reference, I pointed to a comment that I made 2 years ago about being alive in the 90s.

Oh, hang on, I read this post when there were not many responses and I thought it was a piss take and had a laugh and moved on.

But coming back, it seems like I do have to send something to this bot? Still not clear what.

Thanks for saying. The photos you’ve posted on your account are much better than mine, I must say. 😊

The non-chips could have been taken out of the fryer a little sooner. However they were all completely good.

If it’s the one near the San Remo bridge, I’ve been there and agree. However, the best fish and chips I’ve had was on the west coast of Scotland. Australia wins hands down with coffee, though.

If you want to disappear down a rabbit hole, search for “Goin’ Feral” on Youtube.

I could only do that section, unfortunately. It’s definitely on the list to go north and walk the Flinders Ranges part, though.
