My favorite is when they claim they're forbidden and I get to pose the obvious objection: if they're restricted due to posing a safety hazard, why is it acceptable that I'll get one anyhow on my upcoming flight? How is that identical butter knife safer?

I filled an empty mayonnaise jar with it and started eating from it with a spoon while some friends were over. The trick to really selling it was buying a pressure sensitive cap liner to reseal the top so I had to peel it open like a fresh bottle.
