I mean yeah true, but the point is that they deserve it too, not that she didn't.

At this point man I don't think it's going to do anything. GoFundMe will leave it up to avoid disfavor with the current administration imo.

Kamala may not have gone to war with Iran (good)

She did promise "the most lethal military in the history of the world" or whatever, and that really only means one thing: killing a whole lot of people.

Pissrael is her master all the same.

but but but Russia!!! China!!!

Simple math and logic dictate that at that point in time ANY ACTION other than voting for Harris was supporting Trump.

Logically, it must then follow that ANY ACTION other than voting for Trump was supporting Harris.

Did I also vote Marianne Williamson, Cenk Uygur, and Cornell West by voting for Jill Stein? Or just Trump and Harris? I'm trying to figure out the limits to this new infinite-voting glitch we discovered together.

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Blaming anyone that voted third party is one of the most tiresome, braindead, selfish opinions.

It's also mathematically ignorant. If Harris received every single third party vote excluding RFK Jr's, even if you include Libertarians who are more right-leaning, she still would've lost.

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

What? I did vote. For Jill Stein.

Voting for democrats categorically is not "attempting to stop fascism" any more than supporting the Weimar Republic was "attempting to stop Nazism". They're weak, corrupt, feckless, and ineffectual. Their corporate-owned neoliberal politics and suppression of leftwing populism paves the way for fascism's inevitable rise through rightwing populism.

Didn't read the rest of whatever you said there. I'm not really interested in addressing your Blue MAGA meltdown or reading about how you're sad that people give you shit for supporting an avowed genocidaire.

You may view Dems as being an obviously-better option than Republicans. I do not, so if you do not convince me otherwise, I literally could not care less if your party continues losing.

Run better candidates if you want to win. That’s how democracies work, right?

The same thing that would happen if Harris won: more death. I imagine Hamas also knows they were not going to win a military victory. The victory to be had for them is, I imagine, a moral one: exposing the moral vacuum at the heart of the American Empire (so Israel included). And in that, they have achieved a massive victory without a doubt.

It's disgusting that any Palestinian was killed regardless of administration, but that's the pragmatic reality until Israel ceases to exist. So the question has to be how to achieve that, and I think they've made massive strides towards it. And as for America, it's dying all on its own.

Capitalists are not vulnerable to political pressure from the left because capitalism is inherently contrary to the demands of real leftists. So, my answer to your second question is: neither. And you don't even have to take my word for it: my evidence is Biden refusing to end political aid to Israel and Harris pleading "no change" from that genocidal policy. I mean for fucks sake, Trump even pretended to reschedule cannabis before Biden did!

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That all makes perfect sense, but if it could be established for tobacco, why not for cannabis? The ROA is identical, the confounding factors are more-or-less identical.

Hello, I am building a (still-expanding) network of drug discussion communities, which currently includes:

Communities

  • c/drugs - General Drug Discussion (Main / Central Community)
  • c/weed - Cannabis Discussion
  • c/psy - Psychedelic Discussion
  • c/drank - Alcohol Discussion
  • c/opi - Opiate Discussion

I've gotten these communities to a point I'm happy with (except c/drank but I'll be getting to that one soon. I had trouble finding an icon for it). I've also had no real trouble moderating them (Lemmy moderation is usually easy, most people here are nice).

So I'd like to request a community which appears to have been created, and then immediately locked down by, the user who made it:

The only post, from 3 years ago, says "This community is currently awaiting the outcome of an agreement which will decide this communities future." Not sure what that's about but I'd like to get it running as a MDMA discussion sub in the style of these other subs. Thank you!

A “No-Veg” method flips plants straight to 12/12, trading smaller individual yields for higher annual output and a dramatic jump in top-shelf buds.

Abstract

This study revisits the hypothesis that Claviceps purpurea (Fr.) Tul., a fungus infecting cereals and producing ergot alkaloids (EAs), was the psychedelic agent in kykeon, the sacred elixir of the Eleusinian Mysteries. Although archaeological evidence supports this link, experimental data confirming the transformation of toxic ergopeptides into psychoactive lysergic acid amide derivatives in putative ancient preparations remain limited. The potential hydrolysis products of ergot were investigated using a technique that could have been readily applied by the priestesses of Eleusis, notably reacting in lye. Pulverized sclerotia were refluxed in solutions of lye and in distilled water. Samples obtained after liquid-liquid extractions were analyzed with 1H-NMR and UHPLC/Q-TOF-HRMS. The 1H NMR spectra demonstrated conversion of toxic ergopeptides, present in control samples but absent at all reaction times in 5% w/v ergot treated with pH 12.5 lye, where characteristic peaks for lysergic acid amide (LSA; ergine) and isolysergic acid amide (iso-LSA; isoergine; erginine) appeared. UHPLC/Q-TOF-HRMS quantitation confirmed this conversion, yielding 0.54 mg LSA and 0.48 mg iso-LSA per gram of ergot at 120 min. The chemical transformation of toxic EAs to psychoactive compounds, utilizing ancient technology, was demonstrated and supports the “psychedelic Eleusis” hypothesis.

Psilocybin was the most popular, followed (surprisingly) by Amanita muscaria, then MDMA, then LSD.

That means 3.7% of the American population has microdosed. If you ask me, we have to up those numbers, and those dosages... it's not a bad start, but I'm worried that it's a way to cheapen the psychedelic experience, lending it to "enhancing productivity" instead of rewiring your psyche and breaking down social constructs.

If it helps people, it can't be a bad thing. I just hope it doesn't stop at "micro" for most people.

What do you all think?

c/Drugs is Back! (lemmy.world)

Community Intro

This community is now back and open for posting! Thanks to the Lemmy.world admins for granting me the mod role here.

My current goal for this community is for it to serve as the main, central community branching out into smaller, more substance-specific communities. Currently, the network is small, including:

  • c/weed - Cannabis Discussion
  • c/psy - Psychedelic Discussion
  • c/drank - Alcohol Discussion
  • c/opi - Opiate Discussion

I'm also open to suggestions for other communities, and in need of people to help moderate them. (Lemmy usually doesn't require much, if any, moderation, but I'd still like to have a team of people anyway.)

Rules

The most critical rule for this and all related communities is NO SOURCING. Asking where to buy any drugs, including unregulated drugs, even in a "hey hit me up in DM's" sort of way, could get us shut down or worse. This is the regular old clearnet internet, the mods here and the Lemmy.world admins still have to worry about the law. It's not a moral thing and it is prohibition bullshit, but it's the world we've got for now, so work with us there please.

Aside from that, just be as kind as you can be to the people who are kind to you, don't recommend that people do anything which is more dangerous than drug use already inherently is (ie dangerous doses or combos), and we'll be good. (Note that these topics can still be discussed, people just shouldn't be encouraged to participate in behaviors which could cause them harm.)

Also, minors are not permitted to use c/Drugs or any of our networked communities. I don't think there are too many minors on Lemmy, but doesn't hurt to clarify that anyway.

Welcome again to c/Drugs!

Concept Credit

The concept and structure for the network of drug-related communities comes from my experience on 420chan over a decade ago (I am old). For those unfamiliar with 420chan, it was nothing like 4chan. It was the old internet, so it still had its problems (ie racism, which obviously won't be permitted here). But for example, it had a dedicated (supportive) transgender board and issued permanent bans to people who posted loli content. By old-internet-anonymous-imageboard standards, it wasn't the worst place to hang out.

It was also an important place for a weird young person like I was at the time, who wanted to know more about aspects of the world which were presented as taboo, but also wanted to know what was genuinely unsafe.

So thank you to Kirtaner and the mod team for all those fun years. When Kirt gets out of prison (for allegedly hacking the Texas Republican Party), if he wants me to stop using the old 420chan icons, just let me know. I just figured I'd do this because there are no plans to revive the original site and it serves an important function I think.

Posted here 14 / 15 days ago with requests for those subreddits. Admins have ignored my request but responded to requests by others made more recently.

At least give me a "no" if it's a no, please. My account here doesn't have a ton of activity, but my u/7101334 account on Reddit is very active. I want to use Lemmy more and Reddit less, but if there's an apparent stigma towards drug users here, let me know so I can pass and keep looking for a better place.

It has no moderators at all despite still being open to posts. Pretty dead but maybe I can make it not-dead. Trying to make a little network stemming out from !drugs@lemmy.world if that request is approved.

Sourcing - even sourcing legal cannabis, even federally legal like Delta-8-THC - would not be allowed. I would try to find some additional mods from the active users.

I've been a member of drug discussion boards for over a decade and have a pretty good understanding of what's legally allowed (basically any discussion short of step-by-step synthesis instructions) and what's not (sourcing any drugs, even 'grey area' ones).

!drugs@lemmy.world is shut down because...

This community is participating in a blackout against Lemmy for allowing free access to their API with no charge, rendering it affordable for third-party app developers to continue their services. The lack of prohibitive cost makes it easy to mod from mobile, promotes innovation, and gives unlimited user choice, and effectively opens up a significant portion of the culture we’ve all come to appreciate. Indeed, every third party app developer on Lemmy made essentially the same statement: “I don’t have to shut down the app.” Apps can also show ads which is a primary source of revenue. So not only do they not have to pay exorbitant fees, they can even mitigate those fees with ads.

And the current mod is inactive, and has been for 2 years now. I'd like to be made mod there and appoint other mods from active users in the community, considering the sub was pretty active before it got locked down.
