Well, let's not tell anyone because this shuts the old yapper's clap trap it's good enough for me. Anyway, socrates didn't say anything because he was largely a made up composite character, Socrates is basically Aristotle's Fan Fic

Technically that doesn't prove Socrates never said it, he might've, though it would be one hell of a coincidence. It amuses me to think we'll never know.
