Israel is carrying out the mass extermination of Gaza through starvation. Deaths are approaching their peak as a population weakened by 2 years of bombing and hardship are finished off. By September perhaps 40-50% or the pre war population of 2.3 million will have been eliminated. This has been Israel's goal since October 7th gave them the pretext to begin their Final Solution to the Palestine Question.
I wonder what was Hamas' plan to carry out the attack. I'm sure they fully expected Israel to go all out against the Palestinian people, but they probably misjudged how much Israel would care about or be held back by the international reaction. I guess bibi realized that, since none of the western leaders actually cares, he's free to raze everything (like the preemptive attacks on the new Syrian govt)
Previously there had been prisoner swaps. They also wanted to stop Saudi normalisation under the Abraham accords. There is some speculation that Netanyahu turned a blind eye to reports of the attack in the hope of using it as a pretext to carry out the genocide.

At this stage only recognizing Palestine is basically asking Israel to speed up the genocide a little so they don't have pretend not to see it anymore. They are all complicit. Macron, Starmer and Merz support Palestinian genocide.
