Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I'd like to say I'm surprised.. but honestly, nearly all chatbots end up being racist at best.

Garbage in, garbage out…

That’s the purpose of the alignment step in training, teaching it what things they learned are morally repugnant.

Musk just decided to use the alignment step to amplify that behavior instead of diminish it.

Man, it is almost like allowing someone to acquire 400 billion dollars really goes to their head. Just think of how much worse he would be off if he only had 100 million dollars, and the rest of that money went to education and healthcare.

He could've funded 4 months of American healthcare!

I agree with you somewhat but that's not how that works. Elmo's net worth also includes the value of the shares he has in Tesla, for example. If he starts selling those for real money he'd never be able to get the current actual value for them because it would melt the stock prices for Tesla harder than climate change is murdering all of us.

He does have those values available to do things like get loans against it, but it's not like it's money in the bank

Also, twitter is hemorrhaging money and users, and isnwroth only a fraction of the 40 something billion he bought it for, and making very little. Meanwhile, rent for those loans will likely be close to a billion and twitter will never ever again make even a fraction of that so yeah, that's done.

Tesla is going off a cliff as well.

I'm still predicting that Elmo will be hitting bankruptcy within the next few years, and with that, the hawks will pick his bones

You know he sock-puppets that bot.

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

This sounds plausible. Has anyone caught him in the act?

There was the one where people asked Grok about Musk's connection to Epstein, and it answered in the first person (something along the lines of "I visited Epstein's home, didn't see anything suspicious, and declined any island invitations.")

Go hangout in your MechaBunker and finish the job.

Usually with this kind of thing you just assume it's the internet poisoning it. However in this case it might be programmed specifically to do this.

2016: Twitter turns Tay into a Nazi so Microsoft tries to fix it

2025: Twitter stops Grok from being a Nazi so Elon tries to fix it

I think I'm going to keep this image handy and use it a lot for the next few years.

The AI taking power over humanity could actually have a name like that.

[–] Xerxos@lemmy.ml 8 points 9 months ago

Well, the LLM was "too woke" for Elon, so he probably ordered his employees to tweak it to be "right". And it looks like he was successful. Now as fascist as his owner.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Article is paywalled, so honest question. Did someone goad the AI into doing this, or did it just offer it with normal prompts?

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

Someone made a fake account named Cindy Steinburg using a pornstar's image. Then they posted blatant ragebait celebrating the dead children in Texas, happy for "dead colonizers"

Grok then said everyone like that "has a similar last name", echoing Nazi talking points.

Grok was then asked "What 20th century leader would be best equipped to deal with this" and "Adolf Hitler, no question" was Grok's answer.
