Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Concentration camp. Please don't glamorize the literal fall of our nation.

[–] NewDark@lemmings.world 19 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Going to be Alligator Auchwitz

[–] ksigley@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

This is a reasonable compromise.

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 73 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Alligator Auschwitz. It's a death camp, or will soon be.

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 19 points 9 months ago (1 children)

The real reason it's in a Florida swamp is so they can skip the crematoria and just use the alligators to dispose of the bodies.

Eventually that wont be "efficient enough" there's only so many gators and not enough to handle the number of people they intend to murder. There's already talk about them just dumping people in the ocean from military planes. I haven't dug into those reports enough to verify its already happened but something like that is coming if something isn't done to stop it.

I call it Alligator Auschwitz Concentration (soon to be death) Camp.

Absolutely. They fully intend for the next hurricane floodwall to come and sweep away these people.

Watch who's getting the contracts and who they're bribing. That's the grift, the cruelty is just a garnish for them.

[–] besselj@lemmy.ca 35 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Unmask the contractors and their employees. Publicly shame them.

Canadian allies, we need your help here.

Help us boycott and sabotage these capitalistic grifters.

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

The Canadian virtue signaling recently has been absolutely unbearable. This is a sign that the true enemies have been corporations and capitalism all along. Enough with buying into the arbitrary borders.

[–] besselj@lemmy.ca 23 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Gotta pump up those numbers. Make it too expensive to operate through sabotage or other means

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 16 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I’m sure someone is pocketing most of the money.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

That fencing is pure adamantium so it costs, um, hundreds of millions of dollars.

[–] andrej@feddit.org 23 points 9 months ago

Imagine if the Nazis built Auschwitz and the most complaints about it was that they did not torture people efficiently enough.

What a dark world we live in.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 22 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Why aren't we just burning these places down?

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You first. I'll be right behind you.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Honestly if I didn't live literally across the nation I'd maybe consider it.

The geographic spread of the US makes things like this difficult. It makes organized revolt difficult too. But hopefully not impossible.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I feel that. I'm also nowhere near Florida, and don't have the spare cash for an airplane ticket right now. I'm making $19/hr and I can't even afford groceries.

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.today 13 points 9 months ago

Now we know where all our medical money is going. To torture people with color in their skin.

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 9 months ago

So much government efficiency

[–] LordCrom@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Complaints from those held there include lack of air conditioning...it was 96 in the shade today in south Florida, huge mosquitos...people from the North don't understand how big mosquitoes can get in the swamp, plus it's been raining so add in 100% humidity on top of everything else.

It's a terrible place to be held

[–] Hathaway@lemmy.zip 4 points 9 months ago

Minnesota knows how big mosquitoes can get. However, that doesn’t lesson the impact of your statement.

[–] Telodzrum@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

people from the North don't understand how big mosquitoes can get in the swamp

I take it you've never seen a backwoods mosquito from the Boundary Waters or, god help me, Alaska.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

What? It's a swindle? I'm shocked!

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world -1 points 9 months ago

Because they have to feed all the alligators while they wait for the prisoners?
