7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

Not really. Accuracy through volume is not an actual strategy.

So the county board of supervisors ended the contracts, but the sheriff will allow them to use the ranges without a contract? Hmmm. It would seem that the board could end that, as the lack of contracts distributing liability, etc. could be very problematic for the county. They may have to file suit against the sheriff, but I doubt that will happen.
Interestingly, the board has 3 democrats and 2 republicans, so the vote was down party lines, and one of the republican seats is at issue in the election this fall. Note that there are other facilities in the area ICE and CBP can use, so really this is more of a symbolic measure, but an important one, as San Diego has a massive Latino community. Unfortunately, Sheriff Martinez doesn't come up for reelection until 2028.
No, ICE and CBP are separate agencies, they just both happen to be appallingly racist (even by the standards of US law enforcement). The county board successfully forced the sheriff to ban ICE agents, but in response to that she went out of her way to hold a press conference to tell the board they better not try to ban CBP agents too or else, which is probably more just deeply annoying to me than it is actually consequential at this point, but could turn into a lawsuit if the county does try to ban CBP I'd suppose.
I suppose if San Diego County supervisors wanted to go nuclear, they could close the entire training facility, then contract with another facility only for county sheriffs. This way the county would still be providing facilities for sheriffs, but the sheriffs would have no control over who else would be let in.
...the surprising thing about this is ICE not having its own firing ranges.
They're doing the whole Nazi thing by... borrowing the bunkers and gas chambers from a 3rd party?
