Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

This is an AUDI and not an Audi. Those are different, but related companies.

Til. That is ridiculous.

Also: smart idea to outsource production capability of something like this. How did that work out for you with semiconductors?

The hardware is developed by SAIC and Audi just adds the design and brand name. Tariffs for importing cars into China are high and you need a local partner to build cars in China anyway. From Audis perspective it is actually pretty smart. It is not like SAIC can just export those cars, as Audi has brand rights outside of China or could at least easily sue them.

I agree that it makes sense economically short term. The capability to produce that car in Europe is still gone and the chance to regain it by at least developing it here is gone too. I don't have a problem with China or want to appear xenophobic, I am advocating for independence. Just like windows vs Linux, etc.
