after listening to audio book of Project Hail Mary and thinking of Relativity.

This is Rocky's problem. So if mass and length increases as velocity increases , and when velocity is very high, at least 50% of the speed of light, then distance to target increases and newtonian physics becomes too inaccurate ti use, so how is velocity measured at all? ( I think )

am now in reading more on relativity πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Omg I just finished watching that 5 minutes ago! Lol.

I'm holding myself back from reading the Wikipedia entry for Expedition 33 lol

I'm about halfway through and the story is amazing.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Do not spoil yourself!! Have you finished Act I?

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nope. I'm pretty sure I'm just about to. I'm at the bit where I need to get the rock for that puffy dude that flies lol

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago

I have several Esquie T-Shirts, just sayin'

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I bought it a year ago and haven't even started 😞

It's really fun!

This guy is effing brilliant. Yes, he's talking about the American market, but everything he says applies here too.

The Financial Historian: The Housing Market is Cracking Again and no one is ready

While I've had this cold, I've been lowkey obsessed with the game How Many Dudes by Butterscotch Shenanigans. It's on the play store and it's just so fun and funny.

Like how many dudes vs 2 horses, 2 cougars, and 4 wolves? Lol and the classes are great fun, there's so many cool characters like the Dude Whisperer and Dude Merchant. My favourite classes so far are Druid Dudes, their bear form is ridiculous.

Well, that should be everything for Fairtrade Fortnight done. I did a sneaky mostly working on Coffee stuff today, but that means no late night tonight, which will benefit regular work tomorrow

New Adventures in Train Travel

This time the train made a quick track change to avoid collision with a slow freight train ( train driver told us personally once we got to the next station and stopped, she was a bit shook up )

we ended up on a different line and going to different stations

that was a 1 hour extra trip

at least no one hurt

Wow that's wild, glad everyone is ok

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago

avoid collision with a slow freight train

Gawd that must be rare (and a bit worrying).

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yikes! So lucky you were near a shunt point

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago

coming out of Newport rail yard toward Seaholme there are many shunts and sidings

I imagine there will a safety investigation. Why were the signals green? Why was the freight train there?

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ooh gosh, am glad it didn't end up any worse!! Good on the drive for reacting accordingly, hope no one was grumpy about the change of direction!

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

it would have been a dramatic crash, a very heavy slow moving freight train and an accelerating passenger train. Luckily the train had very few passengers, maybe 2 dozen

once we knew what happened we were all grateful to the driver and happy we were safe

in the train, immediately after the event , when we were safe, an announcement was made over intercom that the train was diverted , but no reason was given at that time

once we were stopped at the next station and debarked the driver came out onto the platform talked to passengers in person

Such a dreary day. Looking forward to the BOM Sun prediction for the weekend.

I'm at the stage of winter where I'm CRAVING warm sun on my skin. 6 months from now I'll be a sweaty mess fantasizing about an icy breeze and rain

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago

Yeah same. I'm thinking before summer fully hits, I'll shave another undercut. It's been nice having long hair in winter; I tuck it into my jacket like a scarf lol

But during summer it's way too hot. I have fine hair, like the individual strands are fine, but I have SO MUCH of it it's basically an incubator for my brain during summer. It's just annoying because the undercut won't grow out by next winter, so once I commit, that's it until I shave and start over again lol

I really want to wear spring clothes, so sick of jumpers, coats and oodies

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago

I'm happy with warm clothes, but could use a break from wearing them all day. Just in the evenings would be fine.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago

I dig winter. But definitely feeling the seasonal downs right now.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't understand why my feet are cold.

I have socks. No other part of me is cold. It's just my feet

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was feeling super cold when I was low on iron but if its just feet maybe circulation. I stopped wearing my sneakers because my feet were getting cold on the dog walks.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago

Since taking iron supplements, my hands don't get as cold as before. Definite improvement.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago

Getting cranky with courier companies today, they're getting lazier and lazier. And this is from a pick up POV, not even drop off which I know is worse!

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Dear polyrhythmic metal,

I love writing you but I absolutely fucking hate recording you because I forget what bit comes next.

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I've seen the ads for the Cartier exhibition at NGV and I know the setup for a heist movie when I see one

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I’ve been to see it, it’s worth going. The pieces are stunning, incredible artistry and workmanship. Not to mention the awe of how much $$$ it must all be worth! But yes, I can see the movie plot unfolding too! (I assume they will enter as normal, wait until the gallery closes, change into slinky black jumpsuits and dance through the lasers. Some tech genius will be hiding in an air duct to unlock the front door and cancel any alarms so the thief then just walk out and blends in with the crowd)

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 0 points 1 day ago

I'm thinking classic fake-out. Someone does an obvious bungle trying to steal them and the rest of the crew scoop them up when the jewelry is being moved to another location

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago

Another cheeky day from home because I'm feeling a tad off colour. I did a full week last week so consider this a make-up day

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Today is Bin Day. I know this is overseas news but it effects us all. Here's hoping the overlord count binface wins his election and removes the the racist facist farage from power

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Make your vote Count!

Actually his policies are measurable and quite do-able. I look forward to having him as part of the UK government. If a comedian can fight and pretty much win a war against the Russian Federation, then another should be able to manage being a local representative.

We as a nation should take notice of this phenomenon, as comedy/mockery is the one weapon a dictator simply cannot counter without adding to his/her problems.

Both Zelenskyy and James Harvey are highly educated writers and performers .

Zelenskyy is a lawyer and Harvey an Oxford graduate in Literature

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago

They're also funny buggers, and it's great

[–] calhoon2005@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Christ...I almost ran out to do the bins then.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It actually is my bin day ...lol
