You should try debian

I've been using debian pretty much exclusively since 2003

Fun fact: you can use command uptime to check how long it's been since Debian was installed

Fucking nice, that one.

Everyone shits on stable, including myself, but wow is it nice. The possibility of a breaking change is infinitesimal. It's so refreshing being able to just open my laptop and do things without worrying about general OS maintenance

I setup Debian with MATE for a friend who had only used Window$ and had little to none technical knowledge, then setup cronjobs for 1) upgrading all installed packages 2) her data to be rsynced between the two built-in SSDs. It's been a year now, she has asked for help only twice, both of them involving complex third-party software.

I really get this experience with FedoraKDE. It just works with very little fuss

this is also true for some people who have never used debian proper

After early "distro" on floppies that wasn't really distro, the first one I really used was Debian, then I used Ubuntu and Mint, then MX for almost 10 years now. All based on Debian.

I'm using MX on my work PC that I use daily, update every day, never broken.

MX is pretty sweet
