But before any rants, lightherted question for everyone, as I'm not in one of my hating moods to rant right now. Favorite flavor of chewing gum?

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 6 days ago

just mint, there is something to the fake freshness it brings

[–] Commiejones@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 6 days ago

Chewing gum is like injecting microplastics into your body.

Many a rant to be made here, but only when I get the energy to do so.

During the heatwave weekend we had more excessive deaths in a few days than covid

It is 2:00 AM EST in Virginia where I live.

I am have those dark thought-loop spirals or whatever, this time involving catastrophism.

Seems that rage, fury, anger, or annoyance is the trigger for these dark thought spirals.

Hmmmmm

Honestly, I wonder if I have anger management issues.

I don't often snap at people or yell at them.

But I have gotten angry and then tried to suppress that anger because I had no recourse. It was either that or do something stupid and act on impulse.

Emotional suppression is bad for memory and other things or so they say (need to look that up sometime).

People in my immediate family snap at me or chastize me and I just wear a mask.

Anyway, took Vyvanse a while ago because it helps call me down and think clearly (but also in a very soothing way).

We have reached the second highest alarm phase regarding drought and ground water levels here in Belgium. We are just three weeks into summer and there is no serious rain in sight. I am legit contemplating stocking water right now.

Broke, partially deaf, and now sweltering heat, this is easily among the worst summers.

Have another great week, everyone! I know I'm on less frequently than I used to be, but I have been much better for limiting social media use. The quality of engagement goes up that way. Consider something similar if you've felt too much brain fog lately!

As always, communism will win.

🫵 You WILL have hope, comrade.

Thinking about how many conservatives watch videos of girls in skimpy clothes shooting guns. Super performative. Surely you guys can just go read playboys like the rest of us

Please don't infantilize others by using the word "adulting" at a time where conservatorship is high and people are being forced to live with their parents (either by economic strife or by literally being manipulated by their parents into doing so)

Wishing everyone the strength and hope to find a way forward that's not as damaging.

Over here in Belgium the government has stopped some restrictions on so called flexi job which are jobs in which you can work for some time without having to pay taxes on your wages. They are used by people who want to work in places like bars and cafes next to their regular job to make some extra money. The rules were adjusted so that it would be easier to get such jobs and that you can work more hours. Lots of people were critical of this because this also means less income from taxes and we already have a heavy deficit. But it just had to be done! The 'market' asks for more flexibility.

The government is now saying something needs to be done against all the flexijobs as it is costing them tax money. Like liberals are so incredibly stupid it is not funny anymore.

There is this american-chinese influencer doing a series flying random people into China and he got a random american from Texas into Yun'nan 😂 he met him while trespassing his ranch, turns out the guy is surprisingly open minded agreed to go to China and managed to get him dressed as a PLA soldier 😂

This summer in Europe is really bad. There has been near zero rain and it's burning from the south of Spain to the north of England.

The extreme heat is gone in Belgium at least. It's warm but it still cools down at night. But it's just so incredibly dry.

Every once in a while I think about how easy it would be for me to get ICE'd in the US if I went. Country I'm from has a red passport. If I speak my native language it is quite likely I will be searched. ("Friend" of mine briefly got taken away for questioning by ICE at the airport (Seattle if anyone is wondering) for speaking the same language, was let go after). There is no way I will keep a straight face for the "are you and have you been associated with any communist parties" question. If I ever went I would probably get a different phone, throw away my old one just in case. Not that I want to go to the US, but I have always wanted to visit NY and Seattle.

[–] chesmotorcycle@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 6 days ago

I don't blame you. I don't feel safe in the US even though my outward appearance and language are seen as "normal" here. But Seattle and the Pacific Northwest are great. New York is, how do I put this, both incredibly overrated and a perfect mirror of the US.

Has anyone read Homo Faber by Max Frisch? I’ve heard it’s taught in German schools, but as an Ami I’ve only now been put onto it. Would love to hear thoughts regarding the book as I plan to start soon.

So... thought I got some help for my living situation but something happened on their end and they stopped messaging me. I am not sure what to do now.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

iirc disabledacesocialist also had someone bamboozle them like that for a while so be careful.

[–] LeninZedong@lemmygrad.ml 0 points 1 week ago

They sent resources for me and showed a lot of photos to prove that they were not some faker, but they stopped one day, which is weird.
