That’s just one verse. The whole song is about the death of small towns (particularly the Rust Belt) and the abandonment of unskilled labor by the economy of the ‘70s and ‘80s.

Same when you blast fortunate son. Unless you're the child of an economic elite you aren't the fortunate son... Which is the whole point of the song but people don't use their brains...
