With support from Markwayne Mullin and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the kratom industry is pursuing a potentially lucrative policy. Mr. Mullin owns equity in a company that could benefit.

I'm slowly getting more convinced this administration's real playbook is to do anything and everything to hurt their own citizens, even if it doesn't make sense.

Sure, the grift is nice and the money is welcome, but it's a side effect of their true goals - ruining as many lives as possible.

We've all been fooled into thinking they're rational actors who just value money over their constituents, but it's getting harder and harder to continue to believe in that line.

Why do your I think that so many people believe that trump is a Russian asset?

Because the question that follows is : why? Why are they so hellbent on destroying the USA?

Trump just went for full defeat at Iran FFS, it's humiliating

There is a line in a song "The revolution will be synthesized" has come to mind as I have noticed the same things. My partner works in FEMA and we have been debating if the agency is functionally dead or not, with me arguing it is. There is another agency I am especially worried about that was also in the DHS umbrella as their people seem to be absent.

A year ago I was on a short list of people asking about the NWS "firewall" and its status - https://www.fao.org/4/U4220T/u4220T0a.htm

Currently trying to research what happened in the last few years that the NWS could undo roughly 5 years of work in the 80's in under a year. Anyone reading this know of a public archive of NWS surveys in Central America?

Otherwise it feels like there is a measurable movement to try and force a literal "Armageddon". Hegseth pushed the "This is a holy war" or "final war" to the military in the early days of Operation Forgot About Epstein or the war with Iran. Add in Thiel's fascination with the antichrist and it really feels like a death cult maybe operating inside the government.

it really feels like a death cult maybe operating inside the government.

Not maybe – is. They’re not hiding it. It’s going under-reported because it sounds insane, but they really believe this. It’s part of why they’re cutting funding and programmes related to the climate crisis. It’s not that they don’t think it’s real; more that they think that’s part of their accelerationism.

A bunch of senators including Mike Johnson were in Israel last year for a big ceremony doing a practice run for their planned red cow sacrifice that’s meant to usher in the apocalypse. The Heritage Foundation believes in this shit, and it’s behind a lot of Project 2025.

They’re nuts, and they’re serious about this. They’ll happily kill us all in their pursuit of this.

they don’t care how

It's not even just the leaders, but also the voters. They keep getting harmed, over and over and over, while continuing to go back for more. I can only conclude they have a weird masochistic streak and get off on being hurt.

I've never messed with this stuff so this video by Evan Edinger of his experience with kratom helped me understand how bad this can get - https://youtu.be/TLObpcBR2yw

[–] adarza@piefed.ca 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

...kratom hasn't been shown to be safe or to treat any medical conditions. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned people not to use kratom because of possible harm it can cause. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration calls kratom a drug of concern.

Ok, but that applies to so much. Caffeine isn't used to treat any medical conditions, but people use it every single day.

[–] adarza@piefed.ca 3 points 1 day ago

caffeine has actual proven medical uses. it is also an active ingredient of numerous medications, including the otc anacin and the rx-only cafergot.

"Kratom cures autism and all cancers!" -MAGA tomorrow

[–] adarza@piefed.ca 4 points 1 day ago

not that quickly... not enough time for them to set up the insider trading first.

[–] Asafum@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Maybe im lucky but I took kratom for a while, never felt addicted or felt like I needed to take it.

I only stopped because the day after taking it I would always feel agitated and I didn't like that. It never lasted more than that one day so idk if that's what they consider addictive...

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

No friend. They consider the brains dependency on opioid receptors being flooded as addiction. It’s not simple agitation. It’s more puking, diarrhea, seizures, migraines, and the sweet knowledge that it’ll all end with one little pill.

[–] usernametbd@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It’s not complicated. You want Trump’s support - kiss his ass and give him money. He’s a crooked transactional narcissist. Nothing else matters to him.
