At the end of every work day, that third panel is how I feel I've been treated. But then payday comes around and I keep going back for more torture.

Are billionaires inherently malevolent in your mind?

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 11 points 1 week ago

yes, and in real life too

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You have to be a monster to get to billions. The only way to get that much money, is simply to sap it from other hardworking people.

[–] Clinttoris@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago

Not exactly though. Most billionaires don’t have billions liquid. It’s from them making millions in business and then investing in stocks, ETFs, and buying existing businesses. Is Mr. Wonderful evil? Few billionaires just make money off the backs of middle class workers directly. In China where they pay workers like $5 a week and they can’t leave…that is evil In the USA it’s mostly from portfolio growth and they then borrow against what their portfolio is worth for tax free cash.

So if I start a business, save up 20mil, sell the business for 40mil, invest all my money, my investments do incredibly well and become worth over a billion, I’m evil?

[–] jve@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

So to be clear, in this hypothetical, your investments netted you a cool 2500% return, and then you hoarded all the money for yourself?
