Escaped down the beach for the w/e.

Brought the 2nd BCF2000 down. Plan is to get a ghetto mixing thing going with the maschine in the middle on send / plugin / transport control duties. But! set it in a big chunk of sandstone or red gum sleepers (or both maybe sandstone sides?) that's lying around that I'll angle grind. Probably pointless / impractical but would maybe look nice with a beach theme. If it flops Gibson can have the second BCF lol (if it works haven't tried it in a while).

That's the vision:

Cheers everyone!

Follow your dreams bro! I always wondered if the maschine was good. I like the plugin buts it's nothing without the controller.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The maschine is pretty handy, also not bad as a generic controller for plugs and can put it in mackie mode without too much headache. This one is a dinosaur mk1 so only works w/ v2 software not 3.

but ee all the faders on the bcfs work, not bad given their age and reputation lol.. noisy as hell though:

Fuck that looks cool! Totally forgot about Mackie mode. I used to have a digidesign 003 console that could do that.

This looks wonderfully old school. Have fun.

That sounds cool.

Absolute nightmare situation trying to leave work today. I was stuck there waiting for my manager to approve something to go out over the weekend. Thought everything was good and even got out into the carpark before being called back in because he couldn't find a version. Then back inside to cancel the send, find a past version, to just reschedule the same thing that i did before leaving.

Of course you only have days like this when you have plans on after work

Chilly night. Hope everyone is cosy and warm.

Sweet chilli chicken tenders, a smidge of bogan satay (I make a decent sauce out of ginger, lemongrass, peanut butter etc), spinach and cucumber on buttered white bread

Also cut some chippies

placement reflectionsClasses went very shit today. I am sad. I could see a student look at me dejectedly and with terror because of the utter chaos. Chemicals and pre-pubescent boys don't mix well. I almost had a shut-down which carried into my next class. Lack of sleep, loud noise and no food don't mix well. A lot of it was a me issue which I am reflecting on how to do better.

Part of me wants to just give up but a small voice is telling me that I need to do better and is up for the challenge. I'm just going to finish this course and see how I go. Teaching is challenging and will help me learn to use my words better.

I think I would prefer something one to one. Or ditch the people aspect altogether and do something in an office. They get paid more sometimes and don't have kids refusing to do work even if you sit with them and try to help.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hey, I loath teaching in a group sense. One or two at a time is a totally different thing. It's more of a conversation, so much more adaptable, and none of that being stared at bullshit.

[–] Force_majeure1234@aussie.zone 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I hope I don't come across as callous or anything here, it's not my intention. That said, you are still very new in the role. I would encourage you to keep turning up, being present, and doing your best. Don't try to judge it or make long term career decisions yet. You have a lot of growing pain and adjustment to come over the next several months before I would even say you can tell how you like your job. Breathe, do your best - it's all you can do and I'm sure you're doing just fine regardless how you feel. Give it more time and patience, and give yourself more kindness, before making any big decisions

Thank you!!!!

so many hugs

classrooms are not democracies, you are there to impose order, are there to teach, start classes by telling the students what they are going to learn that day . Certainty is very helpful to young minds. Look at what the teachers who have order do.

and yes, look after yourself, be the best prepared you , show no weakness!!

Listen to your confident voice. You can do this

Cheers, I will

Boozy lunch at Daphne.

Recommend!

I got back upstairs from my work lunchbreak about a minute before the lift broke. Must have had the last good run!
