Violence is causing harm to animals, sentient beings, etc.

Violence is not repurposing and expropriating inanimate objects. Violence can not be committed against inanimate objects.

The obfuscation of this difference is widespread in capitalist propaganda. It allows non-violent protest to be portrayed as violence, terrorism, etc.

Violence is the use of force.

It can be random, indiscriminate or it can be used as a tool.

It is a tool that the state wields with absolute authority and exercises on its subjects.

It’s a tool people can use to resist oppression and authority.
