Russell Vought, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, declined to give senators an estimate of the cost of the military operations against Iran when pressed on the issue during a hearing Thursday.

Vought said the White House is working on a request for additional defense funding but declined to offer an estimate of how much the war has cost taxpayers so far, telling lawmakers that the costs “fluctuate” day to day.

Asked by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) if the administration has already spent $50 billion on the conflict, as some media reports have indicated, Vought said: “I wouldn’t [want] to make a characterization of that at this point.”

That's Russell Vought, co-author and principal architect of Project 2025.

Or in other words, Russell Vought, fascist piece of shit.

Can't let the commoners know we're spending fucking billions of their dollars every week, after all.

While they go hungry and can't get to work. And have to work.

The costs don't fucking "fluctuate" day by day, they go up every day. Maybe the amount it goes up by each day fluctuates, but the cost always goes up.

Also, they're asking for more fucking money from Congress, but they're refusing to account for the money they've already spent. It's easily in the billions, with all the rockets they've launched.

We could have healthcare and education instead.

so they want more money but refuse to say how its being spent.

It's so much easier to rob when there is no accounting, accountability and no oversight.

[–] ohlaph@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago
