Futurama & Batman: The animated series

Guess the thread is over. Can't really top those.

Batman of the future

[–] fallaciousBasis@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Now I want a crossover between Futurama and Batman.

I got really excited reading the comment I thought they'd made one

Futurama superheroes episode...

[–] dfyx@lemmy.helios42.de 14 points 3 months ago (2 children)

I have fond memories of the classic Disney cartoons from the 90s. Darkwing Duck, Talespin, Gargoyles...

Hard to say which one is my favorite. Probably Gargoyles. Let's see how the live action reboot turns out. I hope they can get Jonathan Frakes on board.

[–] twoBrokenThumbs@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

Gargoyles was exactly what came to mind. Pirates of Dark Water would be my second choice.

Though Appleseed (1988 version) is top tier if I were to not pick a kids show.

Wait, there's a live action Gargoyles in the works?? I am intrigued but also a little frightened.

I loved Gargoyles as a kid!

Adventure Time.

[–] Bbbbbbbbbbb@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

From my childhood its going to be Grim Adventures and Ed Edd n Eddy. Early Spongebob is going to round out my top 3.

[–] luthis@lemmy.nz 5 points 3 months ago

Grim adventures is so good.

Invader Zim!

Loony Tunes and Merry Melodies. Love me some Bugs. Animaniacs holds a similar place.

From my childhood? It wasn't quite a cartoon, but a puppets series called Cocoricó. It was about a city kid living with his parents in the countryside, with talking animals and all of that. If that doesn't count it's probably Babar or Marsupilami.

If counting things I watched through my adult years (yup) it's mostly anime. (I'm watching some right now, by the way. I'm 40. I should be working, it's early morning, but I have no shame.) Then I guess Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann?

Ren & Stimpy. No wait, Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Or maybe Futurama. I like 'em weird.

[–] kubok@fedia.io 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I recently re-watched Ren & Stimpy and they did not age well. Cow & Chicken has aged better, but is a product of its era too much to have lasting value.

Futurama is an excellent choice. That one has my vote as well.

[–] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

What about it didn't hold up?

[–] kubok@fedia.io 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

There's a few hilarious episodes, but most of it is just weird for the sake of weird without being actually funny.

[–] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 1 points 3 months ago

That was true all along. I don't think it was meant to be nonstop comedy.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 5 points 3 months ago

My little Pony Friendship is Magic, Sailor Moon.

[–] determinist@kbin.earth 5 points 3 months ago

Probably Samurai Jack.

[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Regular show

I recently discovered Primal. I always loved Tartakovsky (powerpuff girls, Dexter) but this last one is too of the notch!

[–] calliope@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 3 months ago

I really liked Rocko’s Modern Life!

[–] wraekscadu@vargar.org 3 points 3 months ago

Tom and Jerry (obviously), Doraemon.... Aaaand I think that's about it?

[–] colournoun@beehaw.org 2 points 3 months ago

Scooby Doo!

[–] Gruncle@piefed.social 1 points 3 months ago

Individual cartoon? "Billy Boy" from 1954, and "Feed the Kitty" from 1952 are among my perennial favorites. Comic strips? Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side, Dykes to Watch Out For, always come to mind.
Comic books? Saga, and Bone are both excellent.

[–] Scuzzm0nkey@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Venture Brothers, followed closely by Space King

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Camp Lazlo.

Just wall-to-wall cartoon shenanigans.
