World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 19 2025
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's a civilian airport and a terror attack. Claiming this is "pro" anything is not ok.
It's an attack on infrastructure on a criminal state engaged in genocide that had 0 civilian casualties. Yemen achieved what the UN should be doing.
It's a civilian airport where there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who have nothing to do with the war.
It's ok. I heard Hamas had tunnels under it.
War? What war?
Yeah. Anyone that calls this genocide a war at this point should not be taken seriously. At best they are repeating Zionist media. At worst they are actively trying to deny the genocide.
Sounds like they are using human shields then
It's still unclear if the missel was partially intercepted by Israels air defense. I doubt they were aiming for a parking lot. They've proven before they have the capability of directly hitting military targets in Israel.
And Israel has also intercepted attacks in the past that have caused civilian areas to be hit instead of their intended military target. The one civilian death from Iran's attack was a partially intercepted attack if I remember right.
Houthis have a significantly better track record on not killing civilians than Israel does. I'll wait for more info before passing judgement.
Where terrorism is defined as using violence for political goals. Like Israel has been doing for 80 years against Palestinians, and during the genocide and war crimes of the last 2 years.
Its not OK, you're right, but its a millionth of the "not ok" that Israel has been up to, and there were no casualties from this Yemeni Missile, so frankly I do not give a damn and dont understand why -- in this context-- anyone else should either.
Murdering doctors, journalists, aid workers, and people trying to bring aid to the starving is not ok.
Ejecting people off their land is not ok.
Burning kids alive in refugee camps that were claimed to be safe is not ok.
Blocking medicine and treatment for the people who you have burned so they get to suffer and die in agony over days is so not ok. Its far beyond ghoulish and into demonic.
Starving people -- especially civilians who have committed no crime you can prove is not ok.
Collective punishment is not ok.
Renegging on your signature on the traties of the geneva conventions is not ok.
Blowing up hospitals and schools is not OK.
Crybullying is not OK.
Dancing in the streets when they hear about Palestinian civilians dying, then cheering about taking over their land is allnot OK.
Theocracy and ethnic cleansing, also not OK.
storming al aqsa mosque every few months for the last god-knows-how-many years to conduct religious ceremonies designed to inflame tension is not ok. Like the Israelis did on Oct 5, 2023.
All of these things zionists are doing are absolutely disgusting and abhorrent.
Grow the eff up.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
Ben Gurion airport is a military base.
Video shows cargo planes delivering armored vehicles to Israeli Defense Forces
A U.S. military plane landed in Ben Gurion Airport with a shipment of armored vehicles for the Israeli Defense Forces, the Israeli Defense Ministry said Thursday.
So when Israel does it as part of their normal everyday strategy, it's okay. But when someone returns the favor, even when it's an airport used for military operations, it's suddenly just terrorism. Got it.
