Is anybody else having trouble with Stremio over the last few days? Everything was smooth until after the weekend. Now it will barely play anything without kicking me out or crashing - external player or not.

It seems like there is a connection error, maybe?

I will mention I did renew the real debrid subscription which seems fishy - I used to use TorrentioRD+ but it doesn't recognise my subscription so I can only use Torrentio.

Any advice would be great because the internet is kinda useless.

Edit: I went the path of least resistance and changed the API key and reinstalled TorrentioRD. That seems to have fixed the streaming problem for now and also the problem I had streaming in an external player.

Thanks for all your responses. I learned some good stuff. (Please keep responding/replying if you have other ideas as surely other people will have similar problems).

I use it every day and haven’t had any issues. I use Torbox and Torrentio. I don’t want to downplay your problems but it’s pretty solid for me. I’d say maybe once every couple weeks I’ll get some glitch where it shows there’s no seeders when I know for a fact there are. Other than that, it runs without issue.

Glad your fix worked though. I’ll keep it in mind if I ever run across anything.

Stremio has been getting buggier and buggier for months now, I stopped using it, pretty sure it's being vibe coded or something as I can't imagine any other way of introducing so many issues.

They added some cloudflare stuff, which broke things on my always on vpn. Why would i use my normal connection to torrent? Why add cloudflare protection when most people are going to be using vpns? Its stupid decision honestly.

Anyways, last i used it was like a month ago. I deleted the app afterwards.

Sad that seems to be the way many other people are going. If it fks up for much longer or is much more of a hassle I'll be doing the same. Too much admin!

Torrentio is much more reliable with Real-Debrid than without; did you get your API key from Real-Debrid and add it while configuring Torrentio?

Even still, Torrentio can at times be unreliable, as other free debrid indexers can also be. An alternate option to use alongside or instead of Torrentio is the paid Debridio service ($10 a year).

I remember last time I had an issue I changed my API key and that cleared things up nicely (still annoying I had to do that). I'll explore that again, thank you. If that doesn't work I'll absolutely just pay the money for an annual Debridio service. Thanks a lot!

Note that Debridio doesn't work without a Debrid service; it exists merely as a paid alternative to Torrentio for when it's congested with too many users at once. Doesn't happen too often thankfully.

I personally prefer how Torrentio formats results, but unreliability with the service has frustrated family members in the past (the point of using Stremio in the first place being to make torrenting as much like using Netflix as possible for non-techies) and made having an alternative useful, just in case.

In reconfiguring Torrentio, make sure you uninstall it before reinstalling it, as it doesn't overwrite it.

Great to know 👍

Probably not a stremio app issue but addon issue. I've read a lot that Torrentio is known to be buggy from time to time. I don't watch english stuff so can't really recommand addons but you need to try another one. If i remember, there is one called Comet but they are others available.

Thanks for your input! I'll look into this avenue.
