MODERATORS

You'll get taken to a random community. Once you arrive there's a link at the top of the page to /r/random so you can just hammer away at that until you get somewhere that's the right combo of random and interesting.

There is also /r/randnsfw that takes you to a random nsfw communty if your instance has them.

Used to? Does reddit not have it any more?

[–] rimu@piefed.social 48 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I loved those. randnsfw was great as well, you never knew if you'd find happiness or go to be disturbed.

I think that’s about when most of us left. So that tracks.

Voyager has had this feature for a long time

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It does? How do you use it?

[–] claimsou@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Go on Search and select „random community“

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Thanks. It seems to land on the same few comms for me. Do you get a new comm every time?

[–] claimsou@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Well for me it does not even work today. I get no result.

[–] Qkall@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 weeks ago

meanwhile reddit removes r/all - crazy timeline

[–] jwelch55@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Should these be /c instead of /r in the links?

[–] rimu@piefed.social 19 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I opted for /r/ because there might be a community called 'random' one day.

The link https://piefed.social/r/random was a bit broken until just now, try again.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Why not just /random, then?

[–] rimu@piefed.social 10 points 2 weeks ago

Yes might as well do that too.

Works for me on android, firefox.
Very cool, i like this a lot

[–] rimu@piefed.social 6 points 2 weeks ago

Nice to hear :)

FYI I've added 'Random community' to the Communities menu, right at the end.

[–] morrowind@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 weeks ago

Oh sweet. Might try it again.

I've yet to even get the lemmy frontend successfully running for development. Maybe piefed will be easier

[–] Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Thats cool as fuck! It'll be nice when my client supports it ☺️

[–] Blaze@piefed.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Looks promising indeed!

[–] YoiksAndAway@piefed.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Cool, but how do I subscribe? Or can I?

[–] otter@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It will redirect you to a random community, so it wouldn't make much sense to subscribe to it. The apps will likely add a button or menu somewhere for you to use it

[–] YoiksAndAway@piefed.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks! I'll be looking forward to that.

To a random community? Sure, click the link then hit follow.
