what the federal government does is blow obscene amounts of money on bullshit wars, ICE, AI surveillance, and other various bullshits that no one asked for and no one needs, and then pleads poverty when it comes to taking care of non-billionaires with public funds. the vast majority of which was paid by people who actually need help
The Fed is only as independent as Congress decides it is. The Fed can not refuse to process a payment authorized by Congress.
