I’m thinking a lot of americans are feeling pretty smug now with tariffs, threats of annexation and regime change part of the daily menu. The rest of us are thinking - never going to trust an american again. Even further, my brother ( married an american ) told me they went to Mexico on vacation last week and identified as Canadians everywhere they went.

Smug? The majority of Americans I know are terrified of what is happening.

Might actually be true inside the us. But the americans i encounter outside of the us ( probably wealthier) are all pretty much delighting in whats going on. My observation of americans outside of the us : 100% smug and gloating.

Probably because they don't have to deal with the turmoil going on inside it.

Good--they should be for letting these fuckfaces have power.

Tbf, the smart Americans have been identifying as Canadians for a good while before all this recent stuff.

I know I feel closer to Canadian culture than I do the typical American one.

I just came back from a Vietnam/Thailand trip and met some Americans. They were all nice as expected and didn't cosplay Canadians (could have been that we brought up we were Canadians :P).

They all immediately brought up that they were sorry about what was going on over in the US though.

Any American with a soul is sorry for what's happening these days.

I hope we can redeem ourselves eventually.

Only these days? Because I remember not too long again your country was sexually and violently abusing innocent people captured as prisoners of war and held without trial in black sites and other places such as Gitmo.

I remember you drone bombing children at weddings, selling kids to gaols for cash, supporting fascists to kill innocent protesters seeking democracy and freedom from your installed puppets, etc.

Americans should have been ashamed long before Trump was elected.

I don’t think youse can ever redeem yourselves because you ignore all the evil you do.

That’s been my experience recently too, every time I meet an American in the wild, the first thing they do is apologise.
