This is what erasers were back then:

Basically scalpels

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 26 points 11 months ago (1 children)

So... they shaved the paper to remove the ink.

Modern erasers just rub a layer off

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

I thought you were talking about the "regular" rubbers, for pencil. Those rubbers are more "grippy" than paper, so the graphite particles will stick to it.

This doesn't work for ink, of course, and those rough rubbers literally scratch the paper with ink off of page.

[–] Belgdore@lemm.ee 22 points 11 months ago (1 children)

"Reginald, Get me a new whimsical office boy!"

"Yes, master"

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 11 months ago

Kind of brutal actually... Imagine being one of those women and having to live with that

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 8 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Bet none of them faced even police questioning.

[–] heyWhatsay@slrpnk.net 5 points 11 months ago

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee -3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He died doing what he loved.

[–] vaionko@sopuli.xyz 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Running away from sexual abuse, who doesn't love that?

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago
