I don't really care about the James Bond franchise, i just kinda grew up with it. To me pierce brosnan is still the new bond that people aren't sure about yet...

He's such a shitty Bond.

He's a great Benoit Blanc though.

He's kinda okay as Bond imo. My preference is Pierce Brosnan simply because I grew up with his Bond version (and Brosnan's good looks perfectly fits the suave clean image of Bond for most people).

Although, the more purist fans who read the book prefer Craig. Fans of the books think Craig as the gritty Bond, as envisioned by Ian Fleming, suits the actor's looks.

Brosnan was great but Sean Connery was impossible to beat.

Timothy Dalton was pretty good

[–] Schmuppes@lemmy.today 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Not impossible, since he was beaten by Sir Roger Moore.

Connery wasn't beaten by anyone. He never liked the role and was happy to leave it.

He got creative control and a boatload of money for "Never Say Never Again" which was better than any Moore outing.

Absolutely right. Moore was the lamest, laziest, most uninspiring Bond actor. Some of his movies are fun despite him, but it’s a shame he was in so many.

I'll give Moore credit for one thing.

He made the producers have Bond nope out of sleeping with a very young actress in one of his later outings.

And I'll give kudos to Timothy Dalton. His movies were made in the middle of the 'safe sex' 1980s. He wasn't allowed to smoke or sleep around. I think if he'd been given better scripts he'd have been a much better Bond than Brosnan .

Obligatory "Suck it, Trebek!"

I just don't see him as gritty. Sure the movies with him are gritty but Craig himself does not give off a gritty vibe imo. He never liked the role and it shows in subpar acting which is a bit upsetting considering how well he can do otherwise. I held off watching knives out for an extended period simply because I had only seen him as Bond and I couldn't believe people saying he was so good in it.

"Can't have a blonde Bond! It's weird, it rhymes, and I'm pretty sure it was outlawed by the Queen in the '70s."

Congratulations, I knew he had it in him. Ever since his performance in casino Royale I thought he'd be perfect for a James bond role

I had problems with all of his bond movies, but for the most part the problems were never him. I didn't know who he was until I saw casino Royale. I think he was a great bond, I just wish the writing was better in his movies
