What's the best app to use with Lemmy? I've downloaded Thunder, but just wondering if it's a good app or are there better ones out there? Edit: Thank you all for your advice! I will try out the various recommendations and see what works best for me.

I like Voyager. It's very close to RES.

Some instances collect data btw. This place is a data mine, but so is every other place and most instances aren't ran by corporations. There are ways to tell exactly what you personally upvote and downvote. Anyone can have access to that info though, it's not sold.

I'm also on team Boost. I don't know if it's the best, but it didn't take much to make it feel like RIF (Reddit is fun) which I was already used to.

Thanks, I've been looking at them, the only reason I decided against Boost is because it collects data. If I find Thunder to be not so user friendly I'llprobably switch.

Voyager is my go-to

I've been using Summit lately and like it so far; the dev is responsive and there are quite a few customization options.

I previously used Sync (now abandoned), Jerboa, and Connect as well. Jerboa didn't seem quite so customizable, but it was a nice and simple UI.

I suppose Voyager but I still use Sync. And don't call me Newbie

Voyager, used to use & prefer Sync but it didn't keep up with instance upgrades

Eternity. I've tried them all and it was the best. Dev is too busy lately to maintain it. So I'm using Connect in the interim.

Really, you just gotta try them all to find the flavor you like best!

Cheers, yeah I edited the title to say that basically, I'll test them out and see which i prefer.

Used to use Eternity, recently switched to Raccoon. Its pretty good so far but different from Eternity that you have to get use to the different gestures.

There is no best just ones that work well enough for you.

I have used Liftoff, Thunder, and Voyager. I currently use Voyager as Liftoff broke with an API change a while ago and Thunder kept crashing on my Android phone.

As I've just read,Thunder is still being tweaked, I'm also on android, and ideally prefer an app that doesn't collect data. I guess it'll be trial and error for a while. Thanks.

Boost is best. Lots of customization.

[–] Grumpyleb@lemmus.org 2 points 1 year ago

Thank you, much appreciated.

[–] JackGreenEarth@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

I'm on team Voyager, it seems to support every feature except user names and pfps

[–] Contramuffin@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Thunder feels most similar to Relay, which is what I used for Reddit. Honestly, I get the feeling that all of the apps are pretty polished and are customizable enough that you can make one look exactly like the others

Summit recently went open source, so you can try that if you are on android: https://summit.idunnololz.com/

I also want to pitch Connect. It has the same kind of look and feel as RIF used to have. Plus the dev is super active and constantly doing updates and listening to user experiences. It's mad in Canada, which might be a plus punt as well.

Check out Raccoon. Its been pretty good so far. Nicely made.
