Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Its at times like this I am almost glad windows is shit. I could run a decent Linux gaming machine on the windows 11 bare minimum specs.

My daily runner is a Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM. I have a bigger rig for fun and profit but that is just the side gig compared with this thing.

When I was 13, I'd kill for this setup

Pretty much. When I was 13 I was running a 486 33Mhz with 4MB of RAM. So compared with that thing, this laptop has 1000x the RAM.

I was 11 when they started to manufacture core 2 duo, grandpa

Ouch my old bones! But nah aging is kind of weird and fun. Feel like I'm 20 but the mirror gives away the show. Occasionally, you catch a reflection in a shop window and I just see my father.

10 years ago I couldn't have imagined this, brother

Been gaming on Linux for over 15 years at this point. Fuck, some people I knew back then have kids that old now.

Linux gaming is better than ever and seems to always be improving. Indie games that run on pretty low spec hardware also extend the lifespan of old hardware a lot.
