Fediverse vs Disinformation

2373 readers
259 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

It has always been rightwing conservatives that repeatedly harbor and nurture antisemitism.

lol you basic baby atheists on your high horses that flood online conversations with your "rationality" are all the same hypocritical pots calling the kettle black with the same thoughtless arguments containing no nuance.

Stop being a sheep and think for yourself and stop talking over the voices of people like me who are not religious but also aren't idiots who think the problem is really with religion.

Oh wow. I forgot how depleted of intelligence some people are. Thanks for reminding me.

Your cynical inability to imagine or believe in anything that cannot be precisely measured, categorized or captured makes you a prime candidate for being radicalized into fascism.

Posting a picture of a driveby optimized submachine gun as a "solution" to the problem of religion is a perfect example of this.

Sorry I don't find your discord-style superficial arguments using poorly chosen popculture memes to advocate for distracting and seductively simple thought terminating narratives of violence to be compelling or worthy of basic respect.

No but it makes you look childish which I appreciate you helping me with.

My religious freedom allows me to choose which religion I wish to believe in. Be it Christianity, Judaism, Islam, fucking Jedi even. That includes the right to choose nothing at all.

Everyone is allowed to believe in their religions, faiths, and beliefs, all on their own terms.

The moment someone else's beliefs turn into rules that dictate how I'm allowed to act, we have a problem.

Take your bullshit rationalization and choke on it.

The moment someone else's beliefs turn into rules that dictate how I'm allowed to act, we have a problem.

The moment you "choose" to believe in one of the abrahamic faiths, your beliefs dictate how you're allowed to act and how you should treat others. And, unfortunately, the abrahamic faiths are abusive death cults.

Honest people don't choose their beliefs.

Not sure why you're telling me this, I already get that

[–] supersquirrel@lemmy.ca -4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You just described why religion is not the problem and fascism is perfectly.

[–] arockinyourshoe@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

And its gone over your head that facism and organized religion go hand in hand.

This pastor you posted about uses religious tropes to push a fascist agenda in the name of his religion.

Sure, I never said they couldn't, but you also function as exhibit A for why fascism does not require religion to reproduce and thrive.
