Okay, so your solution is

Attack them furiously so someone worse will win.

We're passed the primary. Time for getting someone better is realistically passed. The back sliding is going to happen regardless of whether or not they win. It's just a matter of how much worse will it be if they don't. Seriously what's your alternative? Besides being angry. We're all angry and upset that this is acceptable. But I don't see anything better that stands a chance.

We're passed the primary, but the election hasn't occurred yet. Occupy their meetings and be disruptive until they admit they're wrong, or conduct direct action that openly defies the laws they want to make.

Regardless of who wins, I lose rights. My fight hasn't changed, just one person pretends to be confused why trans people are upset, and the other is gleeful. If my fight doesn't change regardless of who wins, why vote at all?

I can hear the screeching from here. I have multiple fights going on; all of which Republicans are always against, and Democrats are at best tepid. Voting is the least effective means of change, it barely matters outside of a single day every 2 years, and even then only some of the people taking away my rights will be replaced. Voting isn't even good enough when it goes exactly right for us in that moment.

  • Do you really think that someone too afraid to be an open Ally is just as bad as someone who will gleefully be an enemy?

  • Do you honestly think that they will be equally as bad as a gleeful fascist enabling Trump's agenda focusing on you?

I think you're being a bit hyperbolic. No question they aren't an ally. No question that this shouldn't be acceptable. And no question to your right to be pissed at them if you are a potential constituent especially.

Yes things will not improve under them. But right now. Not actively worse is sadly a "good thing". If this Democrat makes it to office. They should have this hung around their neck and be shamed with it daily for sure. But let me reiterate, the Republican is incapable of shame. They'll just smile at you, should you try. Which would you rather deal with?.

To quote Martin Luther King Jr:

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

That centrists at the time were the biggest roadblock to equality. Didn't have Dr King rallying against them to get more kkkers or citizen counselers elected. I agree with Dr king. And that's why I called to take action against them and replace them where meaningful. Legit, in my first response to you.

Are you going to answer the question? Or are you just going to continue to attack the possible best option in the election with no actual plan for anything better. Something in which even Dr King would not support. The fact we even quote it on secretary in the situation really makes me believe you want even serious. It's almost as disrespectful as when conservatives put his words in their mouth.

Assuming you're even in a position to vote for this person. It's your prerogative if you want the worst possible outcome. But it will be the worst possible outcome you understand? We went through this in 24 already. I would have hoped people would have learned from that. Or are you enjoying Trump? Yes fuck every last one of these right wing neoliberal performative Centrist. They should all be run from office and not replaced with open fascists and bigots . But can we stop shooting ourselves in the foot with regards to this every time? Can we treat one wound before inflicting the next. More wounds does not make recovery any easier. That's why I've asked several times if you have any actual solution to this other than just being angry. Which obviously you don't. And I'm through bothering to treat you as if you're being genuine.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago

I'm 100% genuine. Let's do a role-call on the issues I care about for this person.

  • ending the genocide in Gaza: no opinion ❌
  • trans rights: against ❌
  • climate change: no opinion ❌
  • workers rights: no plan ❌
  • immigration rights: mild reform from trumpism ❌
  • universal healthcare: pro ✅
  • public transit: pro ✅

Dr King wasn't advocating for people to elect the centrist either. He supported nonviolent direct action. He supported the Chicano movement and labor movements too, because he knew the answer wasn't in electoralism.

You want an answer to your question? I've already given it to you. Pressure them to do better. Committing to vote for one side because the other is worse incentivises the ruling class to further entrench themselves and move further right. That's what decades of "lesser evil" has gotten us. Now is the time to be pressuring them.

"Not actively worse" is called stagnation, not "actually good". It fucking sucks. It doesn't benefit us. Status quo means that trans people are going to die. That is not good, even if things don't get worse. We are not your volleyball in the game of politics,

WE ARE PEOPLE

Eldritch, I can tell you my solution to your comments is to stop reading the thread, scan the whole list to find each one of your comments --once I realize you're on a thread-- and downvote without reading them. Then go back to the top and continue reading the thread. The little red arrow is a good prescreening flag that the comment should be skipped. You, givesomefucks, and satansmaggotycumfart get this treatment, and judging by your consistent downvote totals, I am not the only person doing this.
