PlayStation ended with PS3 because that was last console that have not required PlayStation Plus to play online.

I've always thought that moving to the internet was the worst thing to happen to consoles. Now they have all the downsides of PC gaming, with all the downsides of console gaming.

They also removed other OS functionality after consoles went live and units were already sold. Glad I never bought one; it pushed me into PC gaming.
