Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

It's kind of interesting that the entire conversation, the cost, the technical difficulties, all lies around people having to not change their behaviour. You get entire questions around batteries being expensive but then the power infrastructure is also expensive, etc. Like you say, maybe some sort of surge pricing is needed, but then costs go beyond equivalent petrol costs (though I guess it's not a problem in the real world as the costs would only really grow when petrol already becomes niche).

But yeah, overall there are solutions, but it's kind of interesting in terms of what challenges each country faces which are pretty fundamentally different despite the old infrastructure being the same, because the technicals of electricity are different.

A good opposite example is the really, really remote areas in Australia, which could just be set up with a small solar install + battery, and that would probably easily beat out having to drive out there every few days with petrol / diesel.
