I think I doom scroll a lot less since I switched Reddit to the fediverse. There is a lot less OC going around over here. However there is a lot more actual news, which are usually bad.

I'm trying to post more, at least one art thing per day. It's definitely quieter without the pugjesus firehose going nonstop

I just block all news on here and read the newspaper daily. It's made the news a lot more boring and normal.

The important part is that news should eventually run out. Reddit and modern news sites are designed so that you can never "finish", which is an attempt to hook you to keep reading. Doomscrolling is a deliberately designed addiction feature
