Not any more assumptive than anyone asserting these women MUST be oppressed.

Considering they're at the voting booths exercising their right to vote, I think none of us can judge what these women are doing. They should be free to do as they want.

Stop putting words in my mouth and implying I'm an extremist. Personal freedom above all else, I am not saying they should be forced to show their face.

We are both assuming I suppose. What makes you a hypocrite is going "you are assuming wrong because my assumption is clearly right".

What isn't an assumption is that the dress is a symbol of oppression stemming from a culture of oppression. Are you going to ignore this point again?

Sure they might wear it because they are used to it and might even feel unsafe not wearing it, but all those habits were still forced into them by an oppressive system.

In the end it's still a patriarchal system built to oppress women, the dress is a tool for oppression even if some wear it freely.

That's the key point, I'll put in italics so you stop reading over it: oppressive system, oppressive system, oppressive system, oppressive system, oppressive system.

Judging individual women on the basis of an entire oppressive culture is where I have a problem.

I'm judging the symbol of that oppressive culture, not the individual women. Get off your high horse.

Get off yours.
