According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the IRGC said in a statement that the region’s energy exports would be “either for everyone or for no one”.

Analysts told Reuters that Iran was signalling it could rely on its Houthi allies in Yemen to close the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the strategic waterway leading to the Red Sea. Such a move could open a new front against Washington and threaten two of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.

The Bab al-Mandab Strait links the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and is a key route for Saudi oil exports and a significant share of global maritime trade.

The way I remember they got bombed by the US and UK and their blockade was defeated. Well it officially ended in a ceasefire, but despite continuous new Israeli transgressions the Houthis seem to not have resumed attacking Israeli ships, so I assume they are substantially weakened.

They kept up the blockade until Hamas agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza. Houthi's bravery and solidarity is unmatched.

I just read about the Houthis taking Mayyun Island.

So I came back to say you were right, and I underestimated how much the Houthis can achieve.

Even though the blockade of Iran is ongoing and moving materiel must be difficult, they still managed to take this new costal area and the island, I am impressed.

They're absolute legends. Seeing the videos online they're going at it with ~~swords~~ AK's and sandals. So much for the Iranian backing. Though I don't doubt their large missiles including the one which hit a Saudi pipleine have a lot of ongoing Iranian cooperation and are likely supplied by Iran,

But besides those, Ansarallah is doing a lot by itself, including using captured weaponry from UAE and Saudi mercenaries.
